Wing designs, builds, and operates its aircraft and offers drone delivery services on two continents. **About the Program** - 12-week paid summer internship (hybrid) - Based in Palo Alto, CA - Start dates in May or June - Eligible candidates must be current students enrolled in a degree program and intend to return after the internship **About the Role** Wing is seeking a **Motion Planning Software Engineering Intern** to join the **Pathfinder team** in **Palo Alto, CA**. You’ll help develop and continuously improve a system that safely flies thousands of autonomous aircraft every day worldwide. You’ll enjoy taking solutions from concept through production and building practical, reliable software for real-world systems. **In this role you will:** - Create innovative aircraft path planning and trajectory generation solutions for new flight capabilities - Build simulation, analysis, and testing tools to validate algorithms against flight logs from Wing’s commercial fleet - See your software fly on physical aircraft during flight testing (moving from simulation to real flight dynamics) - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including **Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC)**, perception, and flight software - Gain hands-on experience developing safety-critical robotics software deployed on a commercial autonomous drone delivery fleet at scale **What you’ll need:** - Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (graduating between **Dec 2027 and Aug 2028**) - Strong examples of prior engineering experience (internships, lab research, robotics competitions, or technical projects) - Academic/project experience applying algorithms to path planning, navigation, or spatial search - Programming experience in **C++ or Python** - Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles - Passion for aviation, drones, or related technologies **Salary Range (US base)** **$128,000 — $135,000 USD** + benefits **Equal Opportunity** Wing is an equal opportunity employer and complies with applicable nondiscrimination laws.
