Wing designs, builds, and operates its aircraft and offers drone delivery services on two continents. ## About the Program - **12-week paid summer internship** - **Hybrid / in-person** program based in **Palo Alto, CA** - **Start dates:** May or June - **Eligibility:** Must be a current student enrolled in a degree program and intend to return after the internship ## About the Opportunity (Machine Learning Engineer Intern — Perception) Wing is looking for a **Machine Learning Engineer Intern** to join the **Perception team** in **Palo Alto, CA**. You’ll help advance Wing’s autonomous drone delivery system by leveraging deep learning to ensure aircraft navigate the world with precision and safety—using access to **tens of thousands of hours of flight data** from a diverse sensor suite. ## In this role, you will - Work toward building **unified and/or generalized Perception models** that help aircraft handle a wide variety of real-world edge cases - **Analyze real-world data** and propose improvements to existing Perception pipelines using **state-of-the-art foundational and end-to-end geometric models** - Build ML models using **large amounts of diverse, real-world data** from a fleet of thousands of robots - Make a measurable impact on Wing’s ability to **scale operations more rapidly** in the growing drone delivery industry - Collaborate with a dynamic, cross-functional team ## What you’ll need - Currently pursuing a **Master’s or PhD** in **Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Vision, Robotics, Electrical Engineering,** or a related field; **graduating between Dec 2027 and Aug 2028** - Strong examples of prior engineering experience (internships and/or academic/extracurricular projects) - Strong grasp of **physics and engineering fundamentals in computer vision** - Familiarity with modern computer vision technologies such as **self-supervised Vision Transformer foundation models, Vision Language Models, VLAs**, and experience in **at least one** of these domains - Experience with **C++ and/or Python** ## Salary Range (US base) **$128,000 — $135,000 USD** (plus benefits) ## Equal Opportunity Wing is an equal opportunity employer and complies with applicable nondiscrimination laws.
