Wing designs, builds, and operates its aircraft and offers drone delivery services on two continents. **About the Program** - 12-week paid summer internship - Hybrid, in-person program based in Palo Alto, CA - Start dates in May or June - Eligible candidates must be current students enrolled in a degree program and intend to return after the internship **About the Role** Join Wing’s **Execution & Topology** team as a **Software Engineer Intern** in **Palo Alto, CA**. This team develops the core backend systems behind the Wing Drone Delivery Network—generating and managing delivery network locations (Delivery Zones, Charge Zones, Pickup Zones), connecting them with feasible flight paths, allocating resources, and coordinating autonomous aircraft movements from request to flight execution. **In this role you will:** - Design, develop, and test backend software solutions in **C++** that impact delivery network topology, fleet resource allocation, and autonomous flight coordination - Build and enhance core backend services and APIs for managing geospatial network locations and turning requests into safe, coordinated drone missions - Collaborate across Execution & Topology and partner teams to deliver reliable features, integrate with distributed systems, and improve developer/operational workflows - Tackle real-world autonomous drone delivery challenges by writing well-tested, maintainable production code that helps the network adapt to dynamic environments **What you’ll need:** - Currently pursuing a **Bachelor’s or Master’s** degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (graduating **Dec 2027–Aug 2028**) - Strong foundation in **data structures, algorithms, and software design** - Ability to read and understand **C++** (experience preferred) - Ability to identify challenging problems and potential solutions with guidance, and work independently toward them - Good written and verbal communication skills - Strong examples of prior engineering experience (internships) and/or academic/extracurricular projects - Willingness to learn **Salary Range (US base)** **$128,000 — $135,000 USD** (plus benefits) **Equal Opportunity** Wing is an equal opportunity employer and complies with applicable nondiscrimination and equal opportunity laws.
