## 🏔️ Staff Software Engineer — Ingestion **Snowflake** · Full-Time --- ### 🧭 About the Role Snowflake's **File Ingestion team** owns the core engines behind **COPY INTO** and **Snowpipe** — landing hundreds of petabytes of customer data per quarter into the AI Data Cloud. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll lead the architectural vision for next-generation, **external-facing ingestion services** exposed to partner ecosystems and enterprise customers at global scale. --- ### 🔧 What You'll Do - 🏗️ **Define multi-year architecture** for high-throughput ingestion APIs across AWS, Azure & GCP - 🚀 **Lead end-to-end delivery** of enterprise-grade external features (Snowpark Connect, partner connectors) - 📄 **Author foundational design docs** and lead high-stakes architectural reviews - 🤝 **Partner cross-functionally** with Principal Architects, Product, Security & external platforms - 🎓 **Mentor engineers** at all levels; raise the bar on design, quality & operational maturity - 🏢 **Engage enterprise customers** directly to solve complex integration challenges at scale --- ### ✅ Requirements - 10+ years designing & operating **large-scale distributed systems** or cloud-native infrastructure - Proven track record taking **complex customer-facing services/APIs** from concept → GA → global scale - Expert proficiency in **Java and/or C++** - Deep expertise in **external API design**, cloud service orchestration & multi-tenant endpoints - Domain knowledge in one or more of: high-throughput ingestion, distributed query engines, streaming systems (Kafka/Pulsar), or database internals - Exceptional communication skills with ability to drive **technical consensus** across leadership - BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience --- ### ⭐ Bonus Points - Experience building **external developer platforms, SDKs, or public SaaS APIs** - Expertise with **Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake**, Spark, or Ray - Advanced performance engineering: SIMD, vectorization, lock-free structures, PB-scale I/O - Background in **metadata management, transactional state machines**, or consensus protocols (Raft/Paxos) - Active **open-source contributor** in data infrastructure or query engines --- ### 💡 Why This Team? > 🌐 **Massive strategic impact** — expand Snowflake's most critical data-path into customer-facing integrations > 🔭 **Broad architectural scope** — from edge APIs to storage engines > 👁️ **High customer visibility** — power integrations for Fortune 500 enterprises > 🧠 **Deep technical autonomy** — partner with Snowflake's top architects --- 📄 *For U.S. salary & benefits info, visit* **careers.snowflake.com**
