## Test Engineer **Location:** Herndon, VA (Hybrid — on-site 3 days/week) **About the Role** Peraton is seeking a **Test Engineer** to join the Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program supporting the Diplomatic Technology (DT) initiative. You’ll help modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework, supporting services for CA customers. **What You’ll Do** - Create and execute test steps using acceptance criteria; perform manual testing of software applications - Work within an Agile team to plan and develop automated test scripts for integration testing - Create, execute, and maintain automated tests using modern frameworks such as **Selenium, Playwright, Cypress**, or similar tools - Collaborate with developers and testers to validate **APIs, web services, and system integrations** - Contribute to Agile development efforts and support high-quality software delivery **Basic Qualifications** - **U.S. Citizenship** required; ability to obtain and maintain a **Secret clearance** - **Bachelor’s + 2 years** experience, or **Master’s + 0 years** experience - Strong knowledge of functional, environmental, operational, and performance testing - Problem-solving skills to isolate and document issues/defects - Ability to program in text-based and object-oriented languages (e.g., **Java, Python, JavaScript**) - Experience in Agile testing environments, including **Test-Driven Development (TDD)** - Exposure to software engineering principles and basic test automation concepts **Preferred Qualifications** - **Active Secret clearance** (or higher). Interim clearances acceptable - Familiarity with **AI-assisted development/testing tools** - Experience with **Selenium WebDriver** and **Gauge** (a plus) - Experience writing **SQL** scripts (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.) - Basic understanding of **CI/CD pipelines** (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) **Target Salary Range:** **$51,000 – $82,000** Salary varies based on factors including scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and location.
