About this role

**Anduril Industries — Staff Software Architect, Intelligence Systems** ## About Anduril Anduril is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. Its AI-powered operating system, **Lattice OS**, turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center—bringing autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking to the military in months, not years. ## About the Team **Anduril Intelligence Systems (AIS)** focuses on positioning Anduril as a lead provider of specialized engineering and next-generation national security products for **Intelligence Community (IC)** customers. The team works within the IC to understand requirements, shape concepts of operation, and deliver critical capabilities across customer problem sets. ## About the Job Anduril is seeking a **Software Architect** to join a rapidly growing team in **Reston, VA**. In this role, you will define the architectural direction for **large-scale, real-time, mission-critical software**—leading design across tactical edge deployments and distributed backend infrastructure. You’ll make high-impact trade-offs between **performance, modularity, and maintainability**, and mentor senior engineers across the organization. You’ll need deep expertise in **modern C++ and Rust**, experience architecting **numerics-heavy real-time systems**, and fluency with **asynchronous/multithreaded programming** (e.g., **Tokio**). Strong understanding of the intersection of software and math—such as **state estimation, target tracking, optimization, and dynamic programming (MCP / Bellman equations)**—is essential. ## What You’ll Do - Define and drive architectural vision for large-scale systems that ingest, fuse, and act on diverse sensor data in real time - Lead design and implementation of performant, real-time, embedded **bare-metal** systems in **Rust** at production scale - Make high-leverage architectural trade-offs across performance, modularity, testability, and maintainability - Mentor and technically lead senior engineers (coding standards, review processes, CI/CD best practices) - Engage directly with customers to ensure successful outcomes for mission-critical needs - Troubleshoot complex real-world issues across software, math assumptions, sensor behavior, and networking - Contribute across the software lifecycle (prototyping, modeling & simulation, field testing, deployment) - Help shape hiring and technical growth as the organization scales ## Required Qualifications - **10+ years** software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied/Computational Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Controls/Dynamical Systems, Statistics, or related field - Proven experience architecting large-scale, production-grade codebases in real-time or high-performance environments - Experience with modern **IPC** frameworks and fundamentals - Experience architecting and designing **REST APIs** for public consumption - Experience with **CI/CD**, unit testing, **Git**, and **microservices** - Must currently possess and be able to maintain an active **U.S. Secret clearance** ## Preferred Qualifications - **M.S. or Ph.D.** in a technical field (dual academic background in software + math highly valued) - Domain expertise in embedded bare-metal systems - Expert-level proficiency in modern **Rust**, including async and multithreaded programming (e.g.,
