**Software Engineer, Billing** **About Braintrust** Agent observability platform helping teams at Notion, Stripe, Box, OpenAI, and Cloudflare trace agents, find issues, and run evals. **The Role** Build billing systems for pricing, usage, and payments. Own the billing stack end-to-end: usage metering, subscriptions, entitlements, payments, invoicing, and credits. This is a deeply technical IC role focused on billing correctness and scale. **Core Responsibilities** • Own billing architecture end-to-end • Design systems for immediate needs and future features • Ensure accurate usage measurement and billing • Partner with product, infrastructure, finance, and customer teams • Build usage-metering and aggregation pipelines • Create subscription, limits, and entitlement systems • Develop internal tools for billing investigations and credits • Implement observability across the billing pipeline **Ideal Candidate** • Expert-level TypeScript, Rust, SQL, backend systems, APIs • Production experience with usage-based billing, payments, or subscriptions • Metering, aggregation, idempotency, reconciliation, event-driven architecture • Stripe or similar payment integration experience • Financial ledgers, credits, or invoice systems experience (plus) • End-to-end shipping capability • Startup experience (plus) • Values speed and customer trust equally **Benefits** Medical, dental, vision insurance • Daily lunch, snacks, beverages • Flexible time off • Competitive salary and equity • Wifi & cellphone stipend **Equal Opportunity Employer**
