About this role
**Senior Software Engineer - Distributed Systems (Continuous Profiler)** Datadog’s **Continuous Profiler** team is building a continuous profiling product with low enough overhead to run in production—unlocking insights into how customer applications perform under real workloads at scale. Profiling data is used for everything from **automatic performance tuning** to **root cause analysis**. As a **Distributed Systems Engineer** on the profiling team, you’ll help build the systems that **intake, process, index, store, and make sense of** collected profiling data. You’ll collaborate with runtime engineers, visualization experts, data scientists, and designers on challenging problems across ecosystems such as **Go** and beyond (including work on async Python profiling and memory leak workflows). --- ## What you’ll do - Help design, build, and contribute to the **core services** that make the profiling product possible—at an unusual scale even within Datadog. - Work in **multi-disciplinary squads**, iterating with customers from early exploration to impactful product experiences. - Own your code from **development to production**, meeting ambitious **SLOs** and quality gates. - Partner with internal and external stakeholders to enable multiple ways to **consume profiling data** (UI, agentic tools, internal apps, integrations, and partner products). --- ## Who you are - Experience with **Java and/or Go** (essential). - Distributed systems engineering experience building **high-performance, large-scale** systems. - Strong **English communication** skills. - Ability to review architectural proposals and guide **technical trade-offs** in a complex product space. - Experience working with **AI coding agents** to produce performant, maintainable results. - Experience collaborating with **distributed teams**. - Working knowledge of statistical methods (e.g., **sampling strategies**, **Bayesian optimization**, **sensor fusion**) (nice to have). --- ## Benefits & growth - New hire **stock equity (RSUs)** and **ESPP** - Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing - Mentor & buddy program - Inclusive culture and Community Guilds (employee resource groups) - Inclusion Talks and internal panel discussions - Free global mental health benefits (employees and dependents age 6+) - Competitive global benefits *Benefits may vary by country and employment type.* --- ## Location / work style - **#LI-Hybrid** --- ## Compensation (estimated) - **$192,000 – $240,000 USD** (yearly) --- ## About Datadog Datadog is the leading observability and security platform for the AI era, providing unified visibility across the technology stack to manage complexity at scale.
