**Senior Mobile Software Engineer (Sr Mobile Software Engineer)** **About Canopy** Canopy is committed to creating safer and more supportive environments for people on the front lines of care. We help hospitals ensure healthcare workers feel safe, appreciated, and empowered every day by building and deploying critical safety technology— including our wearable duress system and Real-Time Location System (RTLS) portfolio—delivered as a comprehensive service to enterprise healthcare systems across the United States. --- **Key Responsibilities** - Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of critical, user-facing features and backend services. - Take end-to-end ownership of projects—from ideation and technical design through deployment and post-launch maintenance. - Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and business stakeholders to shape the product roadmap and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions. - Mentor and guide engineers through code reviews and design discussions. - Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions with pragmatic tradeoffs. - Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and set the standard for code quality. - Break down ambiguous, complex problems into clear, actionable steps. - Identify and address performance bottlenecks, production issues, and technical debt. - Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes to boost productivity and reliability. - Identify opportunities to leverage AI to increase software development velocity. --- **Required Qualifications** - 6+ years of professional software development experience shipping high-impact products on schedule. - Strong system design fundamentals (data structures and algorithms). - Deep understanding of mobile app constraints (network connectivity, touch UX accessibility, etc.). - Ability to architect and deliver performant, resilient mobile applications from scratch. - Comfortable reading source code in modern languages. - Deep expertise in either iOS or Android, with experience developing for the other. - Strong product mindset—care about the *why* as much as the *how*. - Proven ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal supervision. - Excellent communication skills; can explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. - Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects. - Experience collaborating cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders. - Pragmatic problem-solving with a balance of technical quality and business velocity. --- **Nice to Haves** - Cross-platform mobile development experience (we use Flutter). - Strong AI-assisted mobile development workflows. - Experience implementing end-to-end CI/CD for mobile applications. --- **Location** - Remote (U.S.-based) **or** Hybrid in our New York office. --- **Compensation** - Base salary range: **$160k–$195k/year**, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.
