Canopy recently secured **$70M in Series C funding** to help us fulfill that mission. ## The Opportunity We’re hiring a **Senior Full Stack Engineer** to help improve our practice management platform for accounting professionals. You’ll work in a highly collaborative squad with engineers, a product manager, a UX designer, and QA—supported by autonomy to research, hypothesize, build, test, and iterate on the best solutions for customers. Our **microservices backend** and **micro-frontend architecture** support independent deployments, enabling teams to ship to production multiple times a day. ## What You’ll Do - Partner with PM, UX, engineers, QA, and customers to define and validate new features end-to-end - Build user-facing experiences in **JavaScript/TypeScript** and **React** - Design and implement **REST API endpoints** and **microservices** using **Python (FastAPI)** or **Java (Vert.x)**, backed by **PostgreSQL** - Write unit tests, participate in code reviews, and help maintain quality across the codebase - Own builds and deployments to staging and production using **Docker, GitLab, and Kubernetes** - Identify, prioritize, and resolve bugs and technical debt across the stack - Share what you learn through mentoring, trainings, and interviewing future teammates - Contribute to AI-driven engineering tooling that improves quality and efficiency ## What We’re Looking For - **5+ years** of professional software development experience with meaningful exposure to both frontend and backend (not necessarily equal depth) - Strong proficiency in **JavaScript**, with experience in **React** (or similar modern framework) - Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: **Python, Java, or Kotlin**, plus comfort with **SQL** and **RESTful API design** - Familiarity with modern tooling: **TypeScript, Git**, and testing frameworks for both frontend and backend - Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., **Claude Code** or **Cursor**), plus the judgment to steer AI toward high-quality code you understand and can stand behind - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent practical experience - Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teammates - Passion for building scalable solutions with real customer impact ## Bonus Points If You Have - Proficiency with **microservices architecture** or **micro-frontend infrastructure** - Experience with **observability** tooling (logging, metrics, tracing) - Hands-on experience integrating **LLMs/AI capabilities** into a product > *We know many women do not apply for a job if they don’t perfectly fit the description.
