Solutions Engineer
August · New York City
About this role
## Solutions Engineer **About August** August is building an autonomous organization of AI agents that run legal knowledge work. We partner closely with law firms, share revenue on our agents, and take equity in the firms we transform—helping them scale while we grow alongside them. **About the Role** As a **Solutions Engineer**, you’ll work directly with law firms to turn complex legal workflows into working AI solutions. You’ll embed with clients, understand their processes and technical environment, and own deployments from discovery and prototyping through integration, go-live, and adoption. This is a **hands-on, client-facing** role: you’ll run working sessions, build and test solutions, troubleshoot issues, and help users put AI to work. You should enjoy both technical depth and explaining what you’ve built to the people who will use it. --- ## What You’ll Do - Embed with client organizations and run structured discovery across teams and practice groups, mapping workflows, systems, and data flows to identify where AI can have the greatest impact. - Work one-on-one with lawyers, paralegals, legal ops staff, and technical stakeholders to translate day-to-day pain points into clear requirements and practical solutions. - Build and test lightweight proofs-of-concept for document review, form filling, intake, drafting, redlining, and matter management, using APIs, scripts, and workflow automation tools where needed. - Configure AI workflows and connect them to client systems, working with technical teams on integrations, troubleshooting, and validation before rollout. - Run hands-on demos and training sessions to help users understand how the solutions work and adopt them in their daily practice. - Own the go-live from kickoff through adoption, coordinating technical resources on both sides and resolving issues as they arise. - Serve as a trusted technical point of contact for client stakeholders, running structured check-ins and business reviews to understand what’s working and what needs improvement. - Translate findings from deployments into actionable feedback for August’s engineering team (reproducible issues, integration needs, and product improvement opportunities). --- ## What We’re Looking For - **Strong technical problem-solving skills**: break down unfamiliar workflows, understand how systems fit together, and build practical solutions. - **Comfort writing lightweight scripts**, working with APIs and structured data, and debugging integrations (Python or JavaScript especially useful). - **Strong product sense**: understand what makes a workflow painful and translate that into something people will actually use. - **Business acumen + clear communication**: earn trust with managing partners, legal ops analysts, and technical stakeholders; explain complex ideas simply. - **Curiosity + comfort with ambiguity**: ask good questions, investigate beyond the obvious, and take ownership when there’s no established playbook. - **1–3 years** in solutions engineering, implementation engineering, technical consulting, software engineering, or a similarly hands-on technical role (customer-facing experience valuable; law/legal services background a plus). - Familiarity with **AI tools/LLM-powered applications** or workflow automation platforms such as **Zapier, Make, or n8n**. - Excitement about **in-person work in NYC** with a team that values precision, pace, and constant reinvention. --- ## Benefits - Medical insurance coverage
