## About the Role At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust through continuous security monitoring and verification. As **Engineering Manager for the Vanta for Government** team, you’ll lead a team building the compliance platform that will serve **government vendors, federal agencies, and SLED organizations** at scale. You’ll join at a critical point in the product’s development—working alongside early design partners to translate evolving requirements into real product, and establishing the engineering practices and team culture that will define how the team operates as it grows. ## What You’ll Do - **Build and grow a high-performing team**: lead, coach, and develop engineers; hire strategically; close gaps in team composition; raise the bar on quality and delivery. - **Drive execution across the government product roadmap**: deliver multi-quarter initiatives across core compliance workflow features, **FedRAMP/CMMC/NIST** capabilities, and integrations for government vendors and customers. - **Partner with Product and Design** to define what gets built and in what order—translating ambiguous, early-stage requirements into focused engineering plans. - **Navigate a 0→1 build environment**: manage scope, sequencing, and cross-functional dependencies while maintaining momentum and delivery velocity. - **Establish engineering operating rhythms, standards, and practices** that scale with the product, team, and customer base. ## How to Be Successful - **3+ years** of professional experience in a full-time engineering management role, with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop engineers across seniority levels. - Strong technical foundation (ideally a former senior engineer) with the ability to engage on architecture, system design, and tradeoffs. - Experience in **early-stage / 0→1** environments where requirements evolve quickly. - Experience in a **regulated industry** (fintech/healthcare preferred); **FedRAMP/CMMC/government domain** experience is a plus (not required). - Track record of hiring, onboarding, and ramping engineers effectively, building team cohesion and engineering culture. - Delivered complex, multi-quarter initiatives with cross-functional dependencies—balancing near-term customer impact with long-term platform investments. - Clear communicator who aligns engineers, product managers, and design partners around shared technical direction. - Strong decision-maker balancing ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality. - Open to using **AI** to amplify skills and strengthen work—curious, willing to learn, and applying AI responsibly. ## Work Authorization Requirements - Must be authorized to work in the **United States** without employer sponsorship. ## What You Can Expect at Vanta - Industry-competitive **salary and equity** - Comprehensive **medical, dental, and vision** coverage (100% of employee-only premiums covered for most medical plans) - **16 weeks paid parental leave** for all new parents - Health & wellness stipend - Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipend - Commuter benefits for team members who report to the **SF and NYC** office - Family planning benefits - Matching **401(k)** contribution with immediate vesting - Flexible PTO policy + **80 hours sick time** - **11 company-paid holidays** - Virtual team building activities, lunch and learns, and other company-wide events - Offices in **SF, NYC, London, Dublin, Tel Aviv, and Sydney** ## Equal Opportunity Vanta
