ADAS/AD Simulation Engineer - Tools
Lucid Motors · Southfield, MI
About this role
**About Lucid** At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid’s proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our “Compromise Nothing™” approach to the global automotive market—refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. **Your Role** - Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and tooling to orchestrate ADAS/AD SIL (Software-in-Loop) and HIL (Hardware-in-Loop) simulations, including test execution, result collection, and reporting. - Design and maintain tooling for large-scale regression execution (scheduling, failure triage, log management, metrics extraction). - Enable scenario-based validation via tooling for scenario configuration, parameterization, execution, and result evaluation. - Create tools for data visualizations (from scratch or using open-source solutions such as Foxglove). - Update and maintain automation tools based on feedback from HIL and SIL system users. - Develop an understanding of HIL/SIL simulation setup for L2++ and L3 ADAS/AD driving, safety, and parking functions. - Develop, maintain, and scale CI/CD pipelines for ADAS simulation workflows (per-commit smoke tests, nightly regressions), including integration with version control, build systems, and simulation farms. - Monitor pipeline health, reduce execution time, and improve simulation reliability and debuggability. - Support HIL and SIL development as necessary. - Work with suppliers as needed and represent Lucid’s ADAS systems validation team. **Expectations** - Very good understanding of software development for automation tools, post-processing, and application development. - Highly proficient in Python; working knowledge of MATLAB for analysis, modeling, and automation. - Experience with object-oriented software design and API development. - Experience working with data from different sources and formats. - Strong experience in Linux-based development environments, including shell scripting and automation. - Experience with containerization and environment management (Docker or similar). - Basic understanding of ADAS/AD features or other physical systems. - Ability and creativity to complete projects with unconventional ideas in constrained, innovative startup environments. - Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and an ownership mindset. **Advantageous / Preferred Qualifications** - Prior experience with HIL/SIL setups validating ADAS features at OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers. - Experience managing large volumes of simulation data, logs, and performance metrics. - Experience with C++ for simulation interfaces or performance-critical tooling. - Experience with scenario standards/formats such as OpenSCENARIO and OpenDRIVE. - Experience integrating simulation tools with ROS2 or similar middleware. - Understanding of SOTIF, ISO 26262, and NCAP. - Broad understanding of ADAS/AD systems and interactions between mechanical, electrical, and software components. - Proficiency with agile development tools (e.g., Jira, Jama). **Requirements** - BS minimum in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar **and** 3+ years of engineering experience in the automotive industry **OR** - MS minimum in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar **an
