Clay also launched a **$1M Scholarship fund** for GTME Education. ## The Role At Clay, there aren’t traditional titles—everyone is a **Software Engineer**. This role is for technical leaders who can drive business outcomes and impact across the engineering organization. You’ll leverage your technical expertise to: - Shape strategic direction - Execute ambitious and complex projects - Elevate the effectiveness of the engineering team Your impact will go beyond individual contributions: you’ll help drive architecture, mentor engineers, and improve processes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and overall team effectiveness. ## What You’ll Do Clay is hiring across multiple skillsets (product engineering, platform engineering, AI engineering, security, devEx, etc.). At this seniority level, expectations include: - **Big picture thinking**: Set technical strategy for the domains you cover by stepping back beyond immediate details and roadmaps. - **Executing**: Tackle messy, ambiguous, or highly complex projects—removing blockers and scaling impact through collaboration and influence. - **Leveling up the team**: Teach, mentor, review designs/proposals, and review code. Model ownership, strong technical design/implementation, and active participation in company culture. ## What You’ll Bring - **Outsized impact** in previous roles (e.g., creating leverage across an org, building foundational scalable systems, launching new products/businesses, or delivering exceptional product experiences through deep frontend/UX expertise). - **Startup/scale-up experience** and comfort building for continuously growing scale. - **Excellent product intuition** and cross-functional thinking about how technical decisions affect end-user experience and unlock new functionality. - **Empathetic communication**: clearly explain nuanced ideas to different audiences; prioritize curiosity over confrontation; avoid ego tied to systems you build. - **Familiarity with the current tech stack or ability to learn quickly.** ### Current Tech Stack - **Languages/Frameworks**: TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python - **AWS**: Aurora (Postgres), ElastiCache (Redis), Docker + Elastic Container Registry (ECR), ECS (Fargate), Lambda, OpenSearch - **IaC**: Terraform - **Deployment tools**: GitHub, CircleCI, Netlify, Playwright - **Observability**: CloudWatch, Datadog, Mezmo, Grafana
