Clay already helps thousands of customers—including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Visa—go to market with unique data, signals, and AI research. --- **ENGINEERING MANAGER @ CLAY** As a Software Engineering Manager, you’ll lead and grow a high-performing engineering team as Clay scales through rapid growth. You’ll own your team’s mission and objectives, ensuring high-quality delivery on time. You’ll foster an engaged, motivated, collaborative culture and support each team member’s growth. You’ll work cross-functionally with Product, Design, Support, and other Engineering teams to scale and improve Clay’s product. Expect fun, challenging problems—both technical and organizational. --- **WHAT YOU’LL DO** - **Define team purpose & ownership:** Ensure goals are understood and internalized; introduce principles/frameworks so the team can make day-to-day prioritization decisions independently. - **Plan, prioritize & staff:** Set and update the team roadmap (with PMs) and allocate team members to the right work at the right time. - **Build & maintain team culture:** Create a team that works well together, stays motivated, and supports members in achieving career goals. - **Hire & onboard top engineering talent:** Recruit, interview, and onboard engineers so new hires ramp quickly and contribute effectively. - **Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives:** Help lead efforts that improve engineering excellence and scalability across the org. - **Own team outcomes:** Introduce processes to keep important work moving smoothly and maintain accountability; interface with the broader organization on behalf of the team. --- **WHAT YOU’LL BRING** - **Experience:** 2+ years of management experience and 6+ years of overall software development experience. You’ve managed and coached 3+ direct reports in a fast-paced environment. - **Technical & product impact:** A track record of building scalable, high-performance systems with a strong focus on customer delight and user experience. - **Communication:** Empathetic, nuanced communicator who can explain ideas clearly across different audiences/levels of abstraction; prioritizes curiosity over confrontation. - **Tech stack familiarity (or fast learning):** - **Frontend/Backend:** React, TypeScript, Python, Node.js - **AWS:** Aurora (Postgres), ElastiCache (Redis), ECR, ECS (Fargate), Lambda, OpenSearch - **IaC:** Terraform - **Deployment/Testing:** CircleCI, Netlify, Playwright - **Observability:** CloudWatch, Datadog, Mezmo
