## Senior Software Engineer — Full Stack ### About Cinder Cinder is mission-critical infrastructure that helps the world’s most important digital platforms stay true to what they stand for. The internet is increasingly abused by bad actors, and AI is accelerating fraud, abuse, and manipulation. Cinder gives platforms a command center to fight back by: - Writing and enforcing policy - Deploying AI agents against abuse in real time - Investigating threats - Filing NCMEC reports - Proving safety programs are working Our customers include some of the largest internet platforms in the world. The software you build directly impacts what stays up, what comes down, and how users are treated. ### Why this role You’ll build the infrastructure that large online communities depend on to function. The problems are real—state-sponsored disinformation, CSAM reporting, and coordinated abuse at scale. This is an early-stage company with a mature product and real enterprise customers, so you’ll have outsized influence on architecture, product direction, and engineering culture. ### What you’ll work on This isn’t a generic full-stack role. Current roadmap items include: - **AI agents for policy-based content review** callable from within a durable workflow engine. Moving from hardcoded LLM prompts to a **configurable agent spec** customers can edit and deploy. - **A workflow engine built on Restate** for durable execution. Engineers build new nodes that customers wire together to automate moderation pipelines, NCMEC reporting, enforcement actions, and more. - **Review queue tooling** (core UI for moderators/investigators), including QA decision overrides, attribute-level labeling, forms, and skills-based routing. - **Analytics & metrics dashboards** to help Trust & Safety leads understand program performance, with a **React frontend** backed by a **Django/GraphQL API**. - **Two-way user communications** via integrations (e.g., Salesforce, Zendesk) so moderators can contact users and view conversation history without leaving Cinder. - **Reliability at scale**: define SLIs, improve pipeline throughput, and own oncall for systems where downtime stops moderation. ### What we’re looking for - **5+ years** building production software across the stack: - Django (or similar) backend - React (or similar) frontend - Relational databases - Message/event systems - You’ve identified a customer problem yourself and built an end-to-end solution (not just executed tickets). We don’t rely on a traditional PM-led design approach—engineers participate in demos, hear feedback directly, and shape what’s next. - Experience with **high-throughput, data-intensive systems** and the ability to reason about throughput, latency, and scale tradeoffs. - A strong point of view on how AI tooling changes how you write code. We use it extensively and expect engineers to be fluent and opinionated. - **End-to-end ownership**: understand and build features from data model → API → UI. - Clear written communication for PRs, Slack, and customer-facing documentation. ### Nice to have - Experience in Trust & Safety or abuse prevention - Startup/early-stage experience (shipping fast with limited resources) - Familiarity with workflow/automation systems, policy engines, or case management tools - Experience working directly with enterprise customers or in a customer-facing engineering role ### Location & benefits - Based in **NYC**; we’ll **relocate** the right person. - We believe
