## Information Systems Technician I — Business Services Office (IL Secretary of State) **Location:** 501 S. 2nd St., Springfield, IL (Sangamon County) **Employment Type:** Full Time **Division:** Business Services Office **Union:** IFT **Salary:** $5,369–$10,293 (commensurate with experience) **Benefits:** https://cms.illinois.gov/benefits/stateemployee.html --- ### Overview Supports the **Integration Management Team** within the **Enterprise Applications** division. Assists with the **design, development, testing, and maintenance** of **MuleSoft- and API-based integrations** connecting ILSOS systems. Works with architecture, platform, and infrastructure teams to learn best practices and contribute to ongoing integration projects. --- ### Duties & Responsibilities - Support the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise integrations using **MuleSoft**, **API-led connectivity**, **Java**, and related technologies. - Assist in building **REST APIs**, **data transformations**, **orchestration flows**, and **integration pipelines**. - Follow architecture patterns, **security guidelines**, and integration standards. - Help troubleshoot issues, perform basic performance checks, and participate in root-cause analysis under guidance. - Contribute to assigned integration development tasks and shared project work. - Participate in **code reviews** and follow best practices. - Help investigate production integration issues with application and infrastructure teams. - Monitor integrations for basic health indicators (connectivity, errors, performance alerts). - Support routine maintenance to keep systems reliable and available. - Work with architects, data teams, application developers, QA, and business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into technical tasks. - Maintain accurate documentation for APIs and integration designs. - Participate in modernization efforts and learn new technologies related to enterprise APIs, messaging, and integration platforms. - Perform other duties as assigned. --- ### Education & Experience Requires knowledge equivalent to: - **1 year of college** with coursework in computer science **OR** - **1.5 years of technical systems and programming experience** **OR** - Any equivalent combination of education and experience. --- ### Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Summary) - Elementary knowledge of IT concepts, computer systems, and IT documentation. - Elementary knowledge of hardware/software, languages, and procedures for technical support. - Ability to analyze data logically. - Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions and perform routine operations once established. - Effective communication skills with colleagues and internal users/customers. - Awareness and adherence to organizational standards for **security, privacy, and ethics**. - Willingness to travel and possession of a **valid Illinois driver’s license** as required. - Ability to lift and carry up to **50 lbs**. --- ### Application Process - Apply online at: https://ilsos.applytojob.gov/apply - You may upload a resume or other attachments as needed. - **Preference** may be given to **Illinois residents** in accordance with the Illinois Secretary of State Merit Employment Code. --- ### Important Notes - Applicants must be **authorized to work in the United States** (the Office will not complete certification and/or sponsorship requests). - Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. --- ### Questions / Con
