The **Batch Developer Experience** team makes batch development and testing faster and more reliable at Affirm. As a developer on this team, you’ll partner with product and infrastructure engineers to build tools and systems that streamline workflows, strengthen testing, and improve the reliability of Affirm’s critical batch workloads. --- **What you’ll do** - Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver work in multiple phases, and collaborate to ensure timely delivery. - Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics by participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs. - Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” and on-call efforts. - Contribute to team community through growth and development activities (including participation in the interview process). **What we look for** - 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer. - Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems; proficient in **Python or Kotlin**. - Familiarity with distributed systems building blocks and technologies such as **AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes**. - Ability to turn a simple problem/business scenario into a solution spanning multiple software components, with clear, well-tested, extensible code. - Comfort navigating a large codebase, debugging others’ code, and providing feedback through code reviews. - Ownership of your growth—proactively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders. - Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team. - Requires either equivalent practical experience or a **Bachelor’s degree** in a related field. --- **Compensation & Location** - **Base Pay Grade:** L - **Equity Grade:** USA 6 - **USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT):** $165,000 – $225,000 / year - **USA base pay range (all other U.S. states):** $146,000 – $206,000 / year - Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity, monthly stipends for health/wellness/tech, and benefits (including **100% subsidized medical coverage**, dental, and vision for you and your dependents). **Remote** - **Remote-first with flexibility built in** - Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within the country of employment. - Some positions may occasionally require in-person work at an Affirm office; a few are office-based. - All new hires are invited to an in-person onboarding experience. **Benefits highlights** - Health coverage at no cost (100% of premiums for employees and dependents) - Spending stipends for tech setup and health/wellness options - Flexible time off and generous holiday calendar - Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) to buy Affirm stock at a discount **Equal opportunity** Affirm is committed to an inclusive interview process, including accommodations for candidates with disabilities.
