If you’re curious what it’s really like to work here, read our **values** and **hear from the people who do**. --- ## Location & Scheduling - You must be based in one of the countries on **this list**. - You must overlap with **East Africa Time** and **US Eastern Time (8am–6pm)** by at least **3 hours**. - Example: **6PM East Africa Time** is **11AM US Eastern** in summer and **10AM** in winter. - If you’re in the Eastern US timezone, that typically means being regularly available for **8AM meetings** and some **7AM ones**. - We’re unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment **Visas** in the **U.S. or U.K.** at this time. --- ## About the Role We’re hiring **three Senior Engineering Managers** to own domains of our **cash delivery platform** during a period of rapid growth. We’re doubling our engineering team over the coming year and expect to hit **$1B in revenue in 2026**, with significant growth forecast for **2027**. You’ll own one domain of the platform—**Payments**, **Core Platform**, or **Data Collection**—the software product at the heart of delivering cash to recipients. This is a **management role close to the work**: - Directly manage a team of **5–7 senior engineers** - Partner with product counterparts on **roadmap and delivery** - Own operational details (**on-call, incident response**) - Stay close enough to the code to **pressure-test designs** and represent tradeoffs in roadmap decisions You’ll also help maintain and scale a strong engineering culture through rapid growth: - Recruiting and retaining high-talent-density teams - Building operating processes that encourage **open debate** and continuous improvement - Deep product ownership focused on **impact for recipients** - Setting a high technical quality bar while giving senior teams **high autonomy** We optimize for **recipient impact**, not hot technical trends. We’re building hard, mission-critical systems—especially **integrations with mobile money rails** and delivery in **low-connectivity** contexts. You’ll own the interface between engineering and teams that haven’t worked heavily with product development before—learning field realities and helping build development practices (e.g., MVPs as a starting point, feedback loops through demos). --- ## Reports To / Level / Travel - **Reports to:** VP of Technology - **Level:** Senior Manager - **Travel:** ~**3–4 times per year** to one of our countries of operation for retreats or field visits --- ## Team Charters (choose based on experience/interest) We’re hiring one Senior Engineering Manager for each of three teams.
