**About Coinbase** Coinbase is remote-first (remote-only isn’t the model). You’ll collaborate in-person quarterly for intense working sessions called **“surges.”** **Role: Senior Software Engineer, Backend/Fullstack (Coinbase Advisor – Agentic Trading)** Coinbase Advisor is the world’s first RIA-licensed agentic trading system: an AI advisor inside the Coinbase app that holds a natural conversation about a user’s portfolio, provides personalized financial advice, and executes trades on the user’s behalf. This role is primarily **backend** on a full-stack team. You’ll own the services that make agentic trading **fast, clear, and trustworthy** for millions of customers. --- **What you’ll do** - Own backend services powering **Coinbase Advisor** and **Strategies**, from technical design through launch and ongoing operation - Build integrations with **Coinbase trading APIs** so recommendations and user-configured strategies translate into **correct, auditable execution** - Develop the **agentic harness**: tool calling, orchestration, persistent state, and recovery from failed/partially completed actions - Shape agent behavior via **prompt engineering**, **evals**, and conversation analysis—partnering with the **registered investment adviser** on changes to financial advice - Improve **reliability, latency, observability, and execution safety**, including retry behavior and safeguards against duplicate actions - Partner with frontend engineering, product, design, trading infrastructure, and legal/compliance to ship customer-facing capabilities within **regulatory guardrails** --- **Required skills & experience** - **5+ years** of professional software engineering experience, with deep backend expertise and a track record of shipping/operating production services - Strong experience with **API design**, distributed systems, data modeling, testing, and debugging production failures - Proficiency in **Go** (or demonstrated ability to learn it quickly) - Experience building production **LLM/agentic systems** (tool calling, orchestration, evaluation) - Ability to take ambiguous projects from **zero to production** with minimal oversight and strong product/technical judgment - Responsible use of generative AI with **human oversight** to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality --- **Pay transparency (annual base salary range)** - **$186,065 – $218,900 USD** (excluding equity and bonus) --- **Additional notes** - **Application limit:** up to **3 applications within a 6-month period** - **Equal Opportunity Employer** - **Accommodations:** email **accommodations[at]coinbase.com** for reasonable accommodations
