## Director of Engineering — Traffic & Networking ### About the role At Snowflake, we’re powering the era of the agentic enterprise. We’re seeking an AI-native, low-ego engineering leader to help redefine how work gets done—by building the systems that form the “circulatory system” of our global cloud infrastructure. The **Traffic & Networking** group is responsible for **ingress, egress, domain management, and internal networking**—connecting thousands of customers to Snowflake across **public and private connectivity** paths. You’ll lead efforts to ensure **robust domain management, efficient traffic flow, and reliable connectivity**, while improving **product velocity** and **operational efficiency**. ### Mission Every query, login, and byte of data in Snowflake’s Data Cloud travels through the systems this team builds. You’ll own the software and infrastructure that enable seamless **service-to-service** and **user-to-service** communication across traffic types and environments across every cloud provider Snowflake uses. ### What you will do - **Set the strategic vision:** Define the roadmap for Snowflake’s networking foundation and drive execution of complex plans. - **Scale infrastructure:** Lead the development of software that automates and scales networking across **AWS, Azure, and GCP**. - **Drive innovation:** Take projects from idea → design → implementation, partnering with teams across the US, Ireland, Poland, and beyond. - **Technical leadership:** Provide deep expertise in **high-performance**, **security**, and abstraction of complex cloud networking layers. - **Build the team:** Recruit, hire, and grow a diverse team of industry veterans and rising stars. - **Mentorship:** Coach and develop your reports. - **Operational excellence:** Dynamically shift resources to address production issues and customer needs to maintain reliability. ### Your professional profile - **15+ years** software engineering experience, including **5+ years** in engineering management leading leaders - Proven experience designing and operating **large-scale distributed systems**, with a focus on **networking, compute, or storage** - Strong hands-on **cloud fluency** across major providers - Deep experience at scale in **multi-tenant and/or multi-single-tenant SaaS** environments (billions of queries; massive traffic ingress/egress) - Excellent collaboration skills bridging complex technical requirements with cross-functional business goals - **BS/MS/PhD** in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent practical experience ### Why join this team? - **Impact:** Evolve network architecture, build new observability capabilities, modernize legacy infrastructure, and design next-generation connectivity across multiple clouds.
