## Senior Software Engineer - Backend/Kotlin ### About Fanatics Fanatics is building a leading global digital sports platform that helps sports fans **Buy, Collect, and Bet** through Fanatics Commerce, Fanatics Collectibles, and Fanatics Betting & Gaming. You’ll be part of **Fanatics Core**, owning and building backend systems that support the **Fanatics App**—a best-in-class sports platform bringing together free-to-play games, live events, ecommerce, and new product experiences. ### What You’ll Do - Develop, test, document, and deploy high-quality backend software into production - Build features and tools your team uses - Participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot production issues - Escalate when projects hit roadblocks - Contribute to code reviews to maintain quality and share knowledge - Help with planning and design discussions to improve architecture and execution - Improve software quality, customer experience, testability, operational excellence, and documentation - Define and adhere to engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices - Collaborate with product and internal stakeholders on technology decisions - Onboard and mentor junior engineers and interns - Stay current with modern software development technologies and trends - Be open to occasional travel for meetings, events, and conferences ### Required Qualifications - **5+ years** building scalable, performant, evolvable backend distributed systems - Proficiency in **Spring with Kotlin and/or Java** (plus) - Ability to drive backend best practices and mentor others (e.g., clean code, hexagonal/layered architectures, domain-driven design) - Observability experience: **logging, monitoring, and tracing** in distributed systems - Strong Agile delivery experience and a track record of process improvement - Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences - Team-first mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth environment ### Preferred Qualifications - Strong experience in sports, gaming, and content delivery - Strong Kotlin, Java, and/or Go - Messaging/event-driven architecture experience (e.g., **Kafka** or **Amazon SQS**) - Cloud Native + Infrastructure as Code (e.g., **Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform**) - Comfortable working across legacy and greenfield codebases ### Compensation & Notes - Salary range: **$121,000–$200,000 USD** (varies by country/state and Geographical Compensation Zones) - Benefits available (see: https://benefitsatfanatics.com/) ### Apply Safely Fanatics will never ask candidates for money or sensitive banking/personal information during the interview process.
