## Information Systems Advisor I – zOS Mainframe Network Specialist **Location:** 501 S 2nd St., Springfield, IL (Sangamon County) **Employment Type:** Full Time **Division:** Technology – Office of Infrastructure **Union:** IFT ### Salary & Benefits - **Salary Range:** $6,962 to $12,950 monthly (commensurate with experience) - **Benefits:** https://cms.illinois.gov/benefits/stateemployee.html ### Overview Serve as a senior resource supporting ILSOS with general system administration for an **IBM z16 mainframe and DR environment**, including **mainframe network administration, security certificates, SFTP, APIs, and TCP/IP**. This role is critical to ensuring the **resilience, availability, security, and compliance** of the State’s enterprise mainframe infrastructure. You will work with **IBM, HPE, and internal IT teams** to design, implement, monitor, and support primary and secondary mainframe systems that power mission-critical applications. ### Key Responsibilities - Provide advanced system administration and technical leadership for **IBM z/OS** mainframe systems - Manage and maintain **network configurations/connectivity** and communication protocols (e.g., **SNA, TCP/IP, VTAM, NJE**) - Troubleshoot complex **system/network/application** issues; drive root-cause analysis and long-term corrective actions - Assist with planning and application of **maintenance, software upgrades, and PTFs** (coordinating with system programmers and vendors) - Administer and enforce mainframe security policies (**RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret**), including user access and compliance controls - Participate in **problem/change/incident management** with timely resolution and documentation - Collaborate across infrastructure, application, and network teams to ensure **integration and high availability** - Mentor junior administrators; contribute to **process improvement and automation** - Perform other duties as assigned ### Education & Experience Requires knowledge equivalent to: - **Two years of college** (computer science coursework) **AND** - **Four years of experience** with technical systems and/or programming experience and/or IT project management (Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.) ### Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Extensive knowledge of systems design and implementation, including program compilation/testing and data handling - Strong oral and written communication skills - Sound judgment in analyzing and solving procedural/organizational/technical problems - Awareness and adherence to security, privacy, and ethics standards - Knowledge of data capture devices and remote data transmission - Ability to document systems and communicate results clearly (oral, written, and graphic) - Ability to use appropriate tools/methods to work in an organized, rational way - Willingness to travel and possession of a **valid Illinois driver’s license** (as required) - Ability to push/pull, lift, and carry up to **50 lbs** ### Application Process - Apply online: https://ilsos.applytojob.gov/apply - You may upload a resume or other attachments as needed. **Preference:** Preference will be given to **Illinois residents** in accordance with the Illinois Secretary of State Merit Employment Code. ### Work Authorization Notice Applicants must be **authorized to work in the United States**.
