## Chief Systems Engineer/Architect Lead **Location:** North Chicago, IL **Employment Type:** Full Time **Experience Level:** Experienced ### Clearance & Certification - **Clearance:** Active **Secret** required - **Certification:** Cloud security certification or cloud-related technology certification (e.g., CompTIA / Cloud Security Alliance; Microsoft / VMware / IBM / AWS / Google) ### Overview Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a **Chief Systems Engineer/Architect Lead** to serve as the senior technical advisor to **USMEPCOM leadership** for systems engineering and technical innovation under **ENLIST (Enterprise Network for Lifecycle, Information Support, and Technology)**. This role designs solutions to complex **application, systems administration, and network** problems and performs **systems management and integration** across operational, integration, testing, and development environments—supporting the **Applicant Processing System** and associated enterprise infrastructure. ### Key Responsibilities - Provide **senior technical advice** and **executive-level briefings** on architecture, engineering alternatives, technology risks, modernization priorities, and innovation - Develop enterprise solutions across **applications, cloud services, data centers, networks, storage, and security**, ensuring integration/interoperability with existing systems - Create **modernization roadmaps**, gap analyses, milestones, schedules, and measurable outcomes; support quarterly modernization strategy updates - Lead **network and data center modernization**, including: - Software-defined networking - Application Centric Infrastructure - Virtual routing/switching - **Zero Trust** networking - Software-defined data center capabilities - Design **hybrid-cloud**, **high-availability**, **backup**, **COOP**, and **disaster recovery** solutions supporting scalability, workload mobility, and service continuity - Perform structured requirements analysis and **trade studies**; evaluate commercial and Government solutions; produce concepts of operations, technical designs, ROM estimates, and TCO inputs - Support **secure software and infrastructure integration** and **Agile/DevSecOps** delivery across development and test environments - Integrate **RMF controls**, **DISA STIGs**, and vulnerability remediation into technical designs and implementation - Support architectural integration of **data platforms**, enterprise interfaces, analytics, and **AI-ready data** capabilities with software/data/cybersecurity teams - Maintain technical/interface documentation; provide knowledge transfer and technical training; participate in kick-offs and quarterly Program Management Reviews ### Minimum Qualifications - **5+ years** (within the past 8 years) providing enterprise-level IT architecture/engineering services similar in scope to ENLIST across network domains - **1+ year** (within the past 5 years) providing **executive-level technical briefings/presentations** to senior personnel - **Secret security clearance** - **Cloud security** or **cloud-related technology** certification (examples listed above) ### Preferred Qualifications - **2+ cloud-related technology certifications** (Microsoft/VMware/IBM/AWS/Google) - **ITIL** certification(s) - **DoDI 8570.01 IASAE Level III** certification - Meets **DoDM 8140** Foundational Qualifications – **Advanced** standard ### Work Location / Environment - Based at **USMEPCOM Headquarters** in **No
