Our platform is the technology backbone for modern transit networks—turning antiquated, siloed systems into smart, data-driven, efficient digital networks. **Role: Senior Software Engineer (Remix) — Optimization** As a Senior Software Engineer on the Remix engineering team, you’ll build software cities rely on to design and improve public transportation systems with a focus on access, equity, and long-term sustainability. You’ll own features end to end—from concept to production—while shaping what we build and how we build it. **What you’ll do** - Improve planning and scheduling products to help planners explore new concepts, make informed decisions with data, and deliver better service to riders. - Build, scale, and improve the optimization and backend systems behind those products, ensuring they run fast and reliably in production. - Collaborate with designers, data scientists, algorithm researchers, product managers, in-house transit planners/schedulers, and customers. - Work across a variety of technologies (Python, Ruby, TypeScript, React) to deliver great end-to-end user experiences. - Contribute to engineering best practices and architecture in your area of expertise. - Build and maintain processes and tools to keep productivity and code quality high. **About you** - 6+ years of professional software engineering experience. - Built and scaled a computationally hard system in production (e.g., optimization, routing, search, simulation, or geospatial processing). - Mission-driven and values-focused. - User-centric—comfortable engaging with customers to address core needs. - Uses AI tools effectively in day-to-day engineering. - Collaborative, humble, empathetic, and feedback-driven. - Plus (not required): operations research / mathematical optimization / applied machine learning. - Plus (not required): geospatial data, mapping technologies, or data visualization. **Compensation & Benefits** - Salary Range: **$180,000–$220,000** - Final salary depends on experience, knowledge, and skills (salary shown excludes equity/variable pay where applicable). - Benefits include free medical plans and **401K matching**.
