**Software Engineer, Intern - Labs (Summer 2027)** **DoorDash Labs** is an independent team within DoorDash. We’re hiring **Software Engineer interns** to work at the intersection of **software engineering and robotics**, solving key business problems with elegant technical solutions. --- ## Teams (choose your interests) - **Perception:** Helps Dot understand the world using **vision foundation models and VLMs**, supported by **lidar and radar** for safety. Focus areas include rare scenarios, adverse weather, and reinforcement learning / end-to-end driving. - **Autonomy Platform:** Builds the software foundation that Dot runs on—robot OS, **petabyte-scale data pipelines**, and **nanosecond-level compute** optimization for AI models. - **DoorDash Air Cloud (Foundry):** Builds the **cloud software** powering autonomous delivery—from order eligibility through merchant handoff and flight management. --- ## About the Role - **12-week internship** with full immersion in your team - Opportunity to **develop, maintain, and ship products** - Collaborate to solve **real customer problems** - **In-person** at a DoorDash Labs office in **San Francisco or Sunnyvale** (you’ll select preferences during application) **Work authorization:** Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. **F-1 students** are eligible if using **CPT**. DoorDash does not support **J-1** internships at this time. --- ## You’ll do things like - Develop, maintain, and ship technical elements with mentor/team support - Act on feedback, coaching, and mentorship - Actively learn about the areas you contribute to - Make a direct impact by solving customer problems with your team - Participate in intern programming (leadership speaker series, social events—virtual and in-person) - Present your learnings in a final presentation - Enjoy an **in-person** summer work experience --- ## We’re excited about you if you have - Pursuing a **B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent)** - **No more than 2 years** of full-time work experience - Graduating **Fall 2027 to Summer 2028** - Available for a **May or June 2027** start (Summer-only) - Experience working with **databases** (e.g., AWS, SQL) - Solid understanding of **algorithms and data structures** - Proficient in at least **one OOP language** (e.g., Python, Java, Kotlin) - Experience writing **clean code**, using **version control**, and doing **unit testing** --- ## Preferred (not required) - Prior **software engineering internship** or equivalent experience - Curiosity/experience using **AI-powered tools** responsibly (evaluate outputs, use appropriately) - Ability to analyze and improve **efficiency, scalability, and stability** - Interest in developing/releasing/running **large-scale web applications** - Experience with **monitoring, live deployments, and CI** - Experience with **real-time technology problems** - Experience with **service-oriented architecture**, writing **APIs**, and designing systems - Participation in technical projects/research, hackathons, conferences, student org leadership, TA roles, or other technical activities --- ## Compensation - **National base pay range (US): $107,400 — $158,000 USD** - Actual compensation depends on skills, prior relevant experience, and work location --- **About DoorDash** DoorDash’s mission is to empower local economies.
