## Principal Software Engineer — Elastic Global Services At Snowflake, we’re powering the era of the agentic enterprise. We’re looking for AI-native thinkers who are energized by reinventing how work gets done—curious, low-ego, and experimental in fast-moving environments. ### About the Team The **Elastic Global Services** team builds the highly available, scalable, multi-tenant **“Cloud Services” platform** that underpins Snowflake services. Areas include: - Autoscaling VMs from cloud providers - Managing compute cluster topologies - Cluster management - Workload orchestration - And more This role is a unique opportunity to tackle the next big challenges for Snowflake customers across multiple cloud providers (**AWS, Azure, GCP**), where infrastructure self-optimizes and provides high availability and data protection. ### What You’ll Do (As a Principal Software Engineer) - Solve real business needs at large scale using strong software engineering and analytical problem-solving - Design and implement **scalable distributed systems** for cloud services - Analyze **fault tolerance**, **high availability**, and **performance/scale** challenges—and solve them - Mentor and grow junior engineers - Navigate trade-offs between **consistency, durability, and cost** to meet rapidly growing service demands - Ensure **operational readiness** and meet customer commitments for availability and performance ### What We’re Looking For - **15+ years** of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale production infrastructure - Experience building **large-scale distributed, fault-tolerant** infrastructure - Experience with **container orchestration**, **cluster management**, or **autoscaling** - Strong understanding of operating systems concepts: **multi-threading, memory management, networking, and storage** - Solid understanding of internals of **Kubernetes, Mesos, OpenShift**, or other container platforms ### Why Join Snowflake Engineering? - Build an industry-leading **Cloud Data Platform** - Tackle challenging problems across security, parallel/distributed systems, resource management, and large-scale system maintenance - Work closely with customers and partners to identify the right problems at the right time - Join a world-class team of industry veterans and rising stars ### Learn More (Team Tech Stack) ACM Symposium on Cloud Computing (slides): - https://acmsocc.org/2022/assets/slides/99.pdf ### Compensation (US) For jobs located in the United States, please visit the Snowflake Careers Site for salary and benefits information: - https://careers.snowflake.com
