About this role

**Company Introduction** At Bot Auto, we’re revolutionizing the transportation of goods with cutting-edge autonomous trucks—enhancing the quality of life for communities around the globe. With the agility of a start-up and the wisdom of seasoned experts, we’ve built a team behind numerous world-firsts and unparalleled innovations. Join us and help turn bold ideas into real-world impact. **Role Overview** We’re seeking a **Senior Software Engineer, Operation Platforms** to architect and build the platforms that run Bot Auto’s autonomous trucking operations. Our Operation Platforms power the intelligence and automation behind fleet scheduling, fleet management, fleet maintenance, mission control, remote assistance, IoT platform capabilities, business intelligence, and operational efficiency. In this role, you’ll design core object models, state machines, and services that coordinate **Loads, Legs, Missions, and Trips** across digital and physical domains—grounded in clear authority boundaries and deterministic foundations, with room for agentic automation on top. You’ll also build operator-facing tools and backend services to help move our fleet safely and efficiently in real commercial operations. **Key Responsibilities** - Architect and build core operation platforms—**scheduler, dispatcher, vehicle console, ATC, and TMS**—and the services that coordinate them. - Design durable object models, state machines, and lifecycle logic for core entities (**Load, Leg, Mission, Trip**) and the structured events connecting them. - Establish clear authority boundaries between applications (source-of-authority model) to keep the deterministic core reliable, traceable, and auditable—while enabling probabilistic, agent-assisted automation. - Build real-time operator tooling and role-based views for dispatchers, remote assistants, technicians, and fleet managers (monitoring, mission control, exception handling, remote assistance). - Develop backend services, APIs, and event-driven integrations connecting digital planning with the physical fleet (including edge vehicle console). - Ensure safety-relevant workflows are correct, observable, and resilient (e.g., launch authorization and dual-clearance; recovery and physical-takeover handoff). - Partner with autonomy, operations, product, and physical-layer teams to translate real workflows into dependable software. - Drive engineering excellence through system design, code quality, testing, observability, and mentorship. **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - 5+ years of software engineering experience building backend services and/or full-stack applications in production. - Strong development skills in one or more: **Python, Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript**. - Experience designing distributed systems, data models, state machines, or workflow/lifecycle-driven applications. - Solid understanding of **APIs, databases, and event-driven architectures**. **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience with operations-critical systems: mission control, logistics, fleet management, TMS, dispatch/scheduling, or marketplace systems. - Experience building real-time systems and operator-facing tools (live dashboards, command-and-control). - Familiarity with event-driven/streaming platforms (**NATS, Kafka, MQTT**, etc.) and modern frontend frameworks (**React, TypeScript**). - Experience with cloud (**AWS**), containerization (**D
