About this role
## Responsibilities - Manage and grow a team of software engineers while contributing hands-on to the design and delivery of core platform services for secure, scalable, and reliable satellite ground communications and data transport. - Drive end-to-end architecture and implementation of cloud-native services, including multi-tenant AWS platform design, microservice/integration patterns, and scalable/secure engineering standards. - Lead full-stack delivery through code reviews, peer mentoring, and engineering best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions. - Translate business, mission, and system requirements into software architectures, technical specifications, implementation strategies, and development priorities. - Collaborate with Systems Engineering, MBSE, Cybersecurity, Test, and DevSecOps to maintain traceability and alignment between requirements, models, software, and verification activities. - Lead backend development using Python (APIs, automation logic, data-processing capabilities, and platform-level services). - Guide UI and reusable frontend component design for consistent, accessible, scalable, and maintainable application functionality. - Define and implement secure authentication, authorization, and role-based access control (RBAC) mechanisms across applications and services. - Oversee end-to-end integration, deployment, and production support by coordinating with customers/mission partners and partnering with DevSecOps to improve CI/CD and operational tooling. - Identify technical risks, architectural gaps, and software dependencies; develop mitigation strategies. - Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions suitable for secure U.S. Government mission environments. - Solve complex technical challenges related to secure, highly available, and scalable satellite communications and ground-system infrastructure. ## Qualifications **Required** - 12+ years of experience; may have prior supervisory/management experience. - **Minimum Secret clearance required** (must maintain clearance). - Proficiency in **Python** for backend systems and API development; experience with microservices and asynchronous messaging (e.g., PostgreSQL, Kafka, OAuth 2.0, JWT, Unix shell scripting). - Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing relational databases and SQL capabilities (triggers, functions, stored procedures). - Experience implementing authentication/authorization mechanisms (RBAC, ABAC, OAuth 2.0, JWT) and applying Zero Trust software development principles. - Proficiency in modern front-end development using **TypeScript** and **Vite**, including component-based architecture, state management, routing, and responsive design. - Experience with Git-based source control (Git, GitHub), structured code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (unit/integration and automated workflows). - Experience investigating and resolving production issues; deployment operations using **Docker**, **Kubernetes**, and **Helm**. - Working knowledge of **PKI** concepts and experience delivering software on at least one major commercial cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP). **Desired** - Ability to collaborate effectively with MBSE and Test engineering teams. - Ability to prepare and present technical designs and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders. - Ability to engage with end-users to clarify requirements and support implementation. - Ability to learn new tools/technologies/frameworks as project
