Do you want to turn emerging technologies—such as **intelligent networking, generative AI, agentic systems, automation, and cloud platforms**—into production solutions? ### About the Role Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) are software engineers who work directly with strategic customers to jointly design, build, validate, and deploy solutions to complex business and technical problems using Extreme’s products and platforms. FDEs operate in real customer environments and **own technical outcomes** from discovery and solution design through implementation, deployment, and production readiness. Solutions must meet demanding requirements for **scalability, security, reliability, observability, and operational safety**. You will: - Work directly with customers to understand complex problems and design, build, deploy, and stabilize production solutions - Write **production software** and solve complex systems/integration problems - Own technical outcomes from solution design through production readiness - Identify platform gaps and define new feature requirements with Product teams ### Responsibilities for a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer As a **Staff Forward Deployed Engineer**, you will be the **technical lead** for complex customer engagements, owning solutions from discovery and architecture through implementation, deployment, and production readiness. You will work side by side with customer engineering teams to understand: - Their environment, data, systems, and workflows - Technical constraints Then you’ll turn complex or ambiguous problems into production solutions. Depending on the engagement, solutions may include: - Agents, applications, integrations - Data connectors, APIs, tools, skills, workflows - Automation and supporting infrastructure You will remain deeply hands-on while providing technical leadership to other engineers on the engagement, and you’ll identify reusable patterns and platform gaps that can be turned into capabilities benefiting customers beyond a single engagement.
