**Senior Software Engineer, Platform Security** Fastly helps people stay better connected with the things they love. We’re building a more trustworthy Internet—and we’re looking for a Senior Engineer to represent our Platform Security team with a specialized focus on **Trust and Identity infrastructure**. **Posting Open Date:** 10/06/2026 **Anticipated Posting Close Date:** 01/30/2027 *(may close early based on applicant volume)* --- ## What you’ll do - Define the long-term vision for **trust and identity infrastructure** and translate it into execution plans aligned with business goals. - Design and implement scalable internal trust solutions such as **secrets management, PKI, and authentication services**. - Own complex, ambiguous initiatives with multiple stakeholders and organization-wide impact, including: - Partnering deeply with **Product, Security, Compliance, and other Engineering teams** - Proactively identifying risks to business/customer outcomes and developing mitigation strategies - Promote engineering excellence by establishing and evangelizing technical standards for **code quality, reliability, and operational maturity**. --- ## What we’re looking for - **5+ years** experience as an individual contributor in a technical capacity. - Team player with experience in areas such as **Privileged Access Management**, **workload identity management**, **LDAP**, **secrets management**, or **trust systems**. - Strong systems engineering background with deep experience in **Linux, networking, and distributed systems**. - Demonstrated expertise in modern programming languages (e.g., **Go, Python, Rust**) and infrastructure tooling (e.g., **Terraform, Vault, Consul, Chef**). - Passion for demos and feedback-driven work. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation for varied audiences. - Collaborative mindset with experience influencing technical decisions across cross-functional teams. --- ## We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these - Implementing **zero-trust architectures** or identity-aware access proxies - Designing scalable **secrets lifecycle management** workflows - Working with **PKI** and certificate automation at scale - Contributing to open source identity/security tooling - Experience with cutting-edge technologies (e.g., **SPIFE/SPIRE**, modern PAM tooling) --- ## Availability & work location - Requires availability during core business hours; **occasional nights and weekends** may be needed for on-call coverage. - **Hybrid and remote** options available. - Preferred locations: **San Francisco, CA | New York, NY | Denver, CO** - Strong preference for hybrid near a local office; remote candidates may be considered within the US. - Travel may be required as needed for the role. --- ## Salary & benefits - **Estimated salary range:** **$181,220 – $217,464** (starting salary may vary by experience, skills, qualifications, and location) - May be eligible for **equity and discretionary bonus programs**. - Benefits include medical/dental/vision, family planning, mental health support + EAP, life/disability/accident insurance, flexible vacation, paid sick leave, **401(k) with match**, Employee Stock Purchase Program, and paid holidays/wellness days. --- ## Apply A fully completed application and resume/CV are required.
