Fastly’s edge cloud platform enables customers to create great digital experiences quickly, securely, and reliably by processing, serving, and securing applications as close to end-users as possible at the edge of the Internet. **Posting Dates** - **Open Date:** October 6, 2026 - **Anticipated Close Date:** December 6, 2026 *(may close early due to applicant volume)* --- ## Role Summary As a Senior Security Engineer on the **Detection Engineering** team, you will build detections to catch malicious activity across the Fastly environment and drive the investigations that follow. You’ll design and build **AI agents and automations** to support detection and response, develop advanced detections, perform threat hunts, and lead security investigations. ## What You’ll Do - Develop detections and analytics to identify threats across **cloud, container, corporate, and edge** environments. - Lead security investigations by analyzing complex logs and telemetry to determine **root cause**. - Build AI agents and automations to speed up detection development, triage, and incident response. - Research, evaluate, implement, and maintain security tools (e.g., **EDR, SOAR, SIEM**). - Conduct threat hunts to discover unknown malicious activity. - Participate in **on-call rotations**. ## What We’re Looking For - Experience integrating **AI tools/LLMs/automated agents** into security operations workflows to accelerate alert triage and incident response. - Experience developing, testing, and tuning detections using **detections-as-code** (version control + CI/CD). - Proven track record leading complex security incident investigations, including deep **log analysis**, real-time containment, and collecting forensic artifacts. - Strong coding skills in **Python** (or another general-purpose language) and experience building detection/response automations. - In-depth knowledge of major public cloud platforms (**AWS or GCP**) and **Linux**, including containers (e.g., **Kubernetes**) and their native logging/security tooling. - Solid understanding of attacker tactics/techniques, with experience in **threat hunting** or **threat modeling**. ## We’ll Be Super Impressed If You Have Experience With - CDN/edge cloud platforms, or familiarity with **Fastly** products and services. - Designing and maintaining scalable **ETL/data pipelines** for security telemetry ingestion, transformation, and normalization. - Deploying AI agents in production to detect threats, enrich alerts, and automate response. ## Work Hours - Available during core business hours and support an on-call rotation. ## Work Location(s) & Travel **Preferred locations:** - New York, NY - San Francisco, CA - Denver, CO Fastly uses a largely **hybrid** model. There’s a strong preference for hybrid candidates near a local office, though **remote candidates within the US** may be considered.
