Sales Engineer
Faire · New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA
About this role
**Sales Engineer — Faire (Brand Partnerships)** **About Faire** Faire is a technology wholesale platform built on the belief that the future is local. We connect independent retailers with the best products from around the world—using tech, data, and machine learning to help businesses grow and local communities thrive. **About this role** Faire’s Brand Partnerships team brings sought-after brands onto Faire. For many brands, the technical integration is what makes (or breaks) the deal—whether their catalog, inventory, pricing, and orders flow cleanly between their systems and Faire. As **Sales Engineer**, you’ll be the technical counterpart to Enterprise Account Executives across **NAM and EU**, and partner with Brand Success Managers on existing brands. You’ll own the technical win from the first discovery call through **integration go-live**, helping turn Faire’s integration foundation into a repeatable sales engineering motion. This is a **quota-carrying role**, tied to brand activations you support and how quickly those brands reach integration go-live. --- ## What you’ll do - **Qualify for technical feasibility early** - Run technical discovery from the first call with Enterprise AEs - Map the brand’s stack (commerce platform, ERP, WMS/3PL, shipping/label tools, EDI/middleware) - Identify the source of truth for catalog, inventory, and orders - Advise which deals to prioritize, what’s feasible, and where risk sits - Flag early when a brand’s technical team can’t match deal pace - **Build the business case** - Explain why integrating beats manual operations - Present timeline, total cost (including middleware fees vs. margin), and weekly operational hours saved in CFO/ops-friendly terms - **Design the solution** - Recommend the right integration path: native app (Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop), middleware/EDI partner, or custom build on Faire’s API - Weigh ERP, shipping model, and IT capacity - Own solution design so AEs can focus on closing - **Close the fulfillment loop** - Ensure tracking and shipping cost flow back into Faire automatically so orders close and brands get paid - **Get brands live** - Work with brand IT teams, agencies, and middleware partners through setup and testing - Set honest timelines by separating movable vs. immovable dependencies - Plan a controlled first set of orders - Hand off to Brand Success Managers and Integration Support with clear success criteria and owners - **Resolve complex escalations** - Tackle the hardest integration issues (inventory drift, pricing discrepancies, catalog mapping, order/fulfillment sync) - Partner with Integration Support’s day-to-day queue - **Build the playbook** - Turn discovery tools, solution templates, and reference architectures into a repeatable motion - As new integration types launch, own how they’re codified and rolled out (pre- and post-sale) - **Be the voice of brands’ technical needs** - Route what you can solve vs. what only Product can close - For Product-only items, quantify upside and bring a business case to Engineering/Product --- ## First 30 / 60 / 90 days - **First 30 days:** Learn integration paths, partner network, and solution design process; shadow live enterprise deals - **By 60 days:** Lead technical discovery and solution design on active deals; own escalations end to end - **By 90 days:** Extend reference architectures for a common enterprise stack; publish a technical qualification
