About this role
**Anduril Industries — Tactical Networking Engineer** ## About Anduril Anduril is a defense technology company on a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By applying the expertise and business models of leading 21st-century innovators to defense, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built, and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by **Lattice OS**, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is focused on delivering cutting-edge **autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking** to the military—**in months, not years**. ## About the Team (Air Defense) The Air Defense team builds robots that find other robots and knock them out of the sky. When air superiority can’t be taken for granted, the team provides mission-critical capabilities to warfighters. From **detection to tracking, identification, deterrence, and defeat**, the Air Defense team’s networked sensors and effectors help customers rapidly close the kill chain against a range of **UAS (unmanned aerial system) threats**. The team works across product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success to develop, test, deploy, and sustain the **Anduril Air Defense Family of Systems (FoS)** in challenging environments worldwide. ## What You’ll Do You’ll lead the design and implementation of a networking stack to enable **command and control (C2)** and **collaborative autonomy** of distributed unmanned systems. You will: - Design, implement, deploy, and troubleshoot networking solutions across **OSI Layers 1–4** (Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport) - Perform trade-off studies of communications and networking solutions, including **government-provided technologies** - Design network laydowns and configurations derived from complex **design reference missions (DRMs)** involving large-scale unmanned systems and forward-deployed C2 - Build robust tooling for **benchmarking and analyzing network traffic** - Analyze test network infrastructure, recommend improvements, and implement changes to increase **reliability and throughput** for edge networks - Collaborate with software engineers to build representative **modeling and simulation** environments, including **hardware-in-the-loop** lab infrastructure ## Required Qualifications - Expertise in tactical **LOS and BLOS RF systems**, especially in maritime environments for **ship-to-ship** and **ship-to-shore** communications, including: - **SatCom** - **VHF + UHF** - **LPI/LPD** and **anti-jamming** - **MIMO** - **Antenna theory** - Experience with networking protocols and technologies, including: - **Ad-hoc mesh networking** - Secure communication protocols: **IPSec / MACSec** - **Software-Defined Networking (SDN)** / **SD-WANs** - Internet protocols: **TCP/IP, DNS**, etc. - Routing protocols (small and large scale), including mesh routing and internet-scale routing across autonomous systems - Willingness to travel for test field events (**up to 25%**) - Eligible to obtain and hold a **DoD security clearance** ## Preferred Qualifications - Active clearance status - Experience with existing middlewares (e.g., **DDS, ROS, MQTT**) - Experience with network modeling and simulation tools/frameworks - Experience with **electronic warfare (EW)** technologies - Experience with unmann
