**Software Engineer - Platform Observability and Intelligence** **About the Role** Join Fastly's Platform Observability and Intelligence (POI) team as a full-stack software engineer. This mid-level generalist position is ideal for someone with a few years of experience seeking to grow their career. **Team Responsibilities** • Fastly's internal observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, OpenTelemetry) • Internal developer portal built on Backstage • Tools and data pipelines for network and financial insights **What You'll Do** • Design and maintain software powering Fastly's observability and developer experience • Contribute to the internal developer portal helping teams discover services and tools • Debug and resolve issues across the full stack • Communicate clearly about work status and collaborate with teammates • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response **Required Skills** • 2+ years professional software engineering experience • Proficiency in statically typed backend languages (Go, Java, Rust, etc.) • Modern frontend frameworks (React) or willingness to learn • SQL and database experience • Linux/shell experience • Distributed systems or cloud services experience • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills **Nice to Have** • Backstage or internal developer portal experience • Enterprise observability systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog) • Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code • Data engineering, capacity planning, or FinOps • Network infrastructure or datacenter experience **Work Details** • Hybrid/Remote (preferred locations: San Francisco, CA or New York, NY) • Core business hours + occasional on-call coverage • Salary: $155,370 - $186,444 • Equity and discretionary bonus eligible **Benefits** Medical, dental, vision • Mental health support • 401(k) with match • ESPP • Flexible vacation • 18 days paid sick leave • 12 paid holidays + 12 wellness days **Posting Dates** Open: 10/05/2026 | Close: 12/05/2026 (may close early)
