## Software Engineering Manager - SATCOM ### Responsibilities - Manage and grow a team of software engineers while contributing hands-on to the design and delivery of core platform services for secure, scalable, and reliable satellite ground communications and data-transport capabilities. - Drive end-to-end architecture and implementation of cloud-native services, including multi-tenant AWS platform design, microservice/integration patterns, and scalable/secure engineering standards. - Lead technical direction across architecture, design, development, integration, and troubleshooting. - Collaborate with Systems Engineering, MBSE, Cybersecurity, Test, DevSecOps, and customer stakeholders to ensure software aligns with system requirements, architectural objectives, security requirements, and program goals. - Translate mission and system requirements into software architectures, technical specifications, implementation strategies, and development priorities. - Oversee line management responsibilities (staffing, performance reviews, career development, and daily operations) to build a collaborative, accountable engineering culture. - Contribute to full-stack development through code reviews, peer mentoring, and engineering best practices. - Lead backend development using Python (APIs, automation logic, data-processing capabilities, and platform-level services). - Guide UI and reusable frontend component design for consistent, accessible, scalable, and maintainable functionality. - Define and implement secure authentication, authorization, and RBAC mechanisms across applications and services. - Lead integration, deployment, and production support efforts in coordination with customers/mission partners and DevSecOps (CI/CD and operational tooling). - Identify technical risks, architectural gaps, and software dependencies; develop mitigation strategies. - Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions suitable for secure U.S. Government mission environments. ### Required Qualifications - 12+ years of experience; may have prior supervisory/management experience. - **Clearance:** Minimum **Top-Secret** clearance with ability to obtain **TS/SCI**; must maintain clearance. - Proficiency in **Python** for backend systems and API development; experience with microservice architectures and asynchronous messaging (e.g., **PostgreSQL, Kafka**). - Experience with authentication/authorization mechanisms including **RBAC, ABAC, OAuth 2.0, JWT**, and Zero Trust software development principles. - Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing relational databases and SQL capabilities (e.g., triggers, functions, stored procedures). - Proficiency in modern front-end development using **TypeScript** and **Vite**, including component-based architecture, state management, routing, and responsive design. - Experience with **Git** (e.g., GitHub), structured code reviews, **CI/CD**, and automated testing (unit/integration and automated workflows). - Experience investigating and resolving production issues; deployment operations with **Docker, Kubernetes, Helm**. - Working knowledge of **PKI** concepts. - Experience delivering software on at least one major commercial cloud platform (**AWS, Azure, or GCP**). ### Desired Qualifications - Ability to collaborate effectively with MBSE and Test engineering teams. - Ability to prepare and present technical designs and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders. - Ability to engage with end-users to cl
