**Join us in building the future of finance.** Robinhood’s **Security Operations** team operates across two disciplines: - **Proactive security**: finding threats and vulnerabilities before attackers do - **Reactive security**: detecting, investigating, and evicting threat actors in real time As a **Senior Staff Security Engineer, Security Operations**, you’ll operate at the intersection of operational security tradecraft and **AI-driven defense**—helping rewrite the playbook for an evolving threat landscape, including **AI-powered attackers**. --- ## About the role This is a **0→1 technical leadership** role. You’ll lead the technical creation and execution of Robinhood’s **Security Operations AI roadmap** across both offensive and defensive security functions. **Location:** Menlo Park, New York City, or Bellevue (in-person **at least 3 days/week**). --- ## What you’ll do - Serve as the **Security Operations AI Tech Lead** for offensive and defensive security - Lead offensive security research (deep red team, penetration testing, application security) to close critical attack surfaces - Architect and build **next-generation defensive capabilities** beyond static detection (engage, deceive, and track sophisticated threat actors) - Drive Robinhood’s **AI-forward security strategy**—using AI as a core architectural component to scale against agentic/automated adversaries - Identify emerging threat motivations and attack patterns (especially in the AI space) and translate intelligence into proactive defensive architectures - Set technical standards and **mentor** Security Operations engineers to elevate org capability --- ## What you bring - **12+ years** security engineering experience across both: - **Offense** (red team, penetration testing, application security, vulnerability management) - **Defense** (incident response, detection engineering, threat intelligence) - Demonstrated impact innovating with **AI in Security Operations** (beyond chatbot-style use) - Proven technical leadership at **Senior Staff / Principal / Distinguished** level (setting org/company direction) - Deep expertise in **application security** and ability to operate as both security and software engineer - Strong background in **threat detection** and security operations - Informed point of view on **AI in security** (how it changes attack surface and defensive tooling) - Proficiency with **cloud security (AWS preferred)**, telemetry/observability, and large-scale detection pipeline fundamentals - Exceptional technical communication (write/brief/influence at executive level and go deep with engineers) - Security certifications (e.g., **OSCP, GREM, GXPN**, or equivalent) are a plus --- ## What we offer - Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career - Performance-driven compensation (multipliers for outsized impact), bonus programs, equity, and **401(k) matching** - Top-tier benefits, including **100% paid health insurance** for employees (90% coverage for dependents) - Access to the **Robinhood Employee Fund** (eligible US employees can invest in a private employee fund tied to Robinhood Ventures) - Access to leading AI tools and continuous AI skill-building - **Lifestyle wallet** (flexible benefits spending) - Employer-paid life & disability insurance, fertility benefits, and mental health benefits - Time off to recharge (company holidays, PTO, sick time, parental leave, and more) - Exceptional office experience (catered meals, events, comforta
