**About Candid Health** At Candid Health, we’re on a mission to revolutionize healthcare by solving one of its most complex and costly problems: **billing and revenue cycle management (RCM)**. We’re building a revenue cycle automation platform that uses intelligent, data-driven AI to simplify billing, enhance claims processing, and eliminate administrative waste. **The Role (AI/ML Engineer — Senior)** As a Senior AI Engineer, you’ll bring **Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning** to the forefront of healthcare automation. You’ll translate early prototypes into a foundational set of **high-impact ML/AI use cases** across our platform and customer base. We’re looking for a hands-on builder who can navigate the complexities of medical billing and deliver strategic AI/ML solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. **What You’ll Do** - **Own outcomes & apply AI to real problems:** Build AI features into Candid’s platform to deliver results for internal teams and external customers. - **Innovate & drive our technical AI strategy:** Identify where and which AI/ML techniques create business value; research best practices; design forward-looking and responsible systems; scale prototypes into deployable solutions. - **Scale and unlock new & existing products:** Partner cross-functionally to automate and scale technically complex workflows (e.g., claim submission, resubmission, workflow optimization). Influence the AI and product roadmap to help customers optimize RCM operations at scale. - **Build AI infrastructure:** Architect infrastructure to support AI across the product; structure and format data for AI development; establish rigorous model training, testing, and monitoring processes with strong security expectations. **Who You Are** - Bachelors or Masters in **Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math**, or a related field. - **8+ years** building software at significant scale and complexity. - **5+ years** of professional AI engineering experience, ideally applying AI to real-world solutions. - Experience building systems leveraging ML technologies (e.g., **NLP models**) and familiarity with relevant tools/frameworks/libraries. - Strong understanding of AI tradeoffs—knowing when to use **deterministic ML vs. non-deterministic LLM approaches** to maximize ROI, efficiency, and cost savings. - Ability to design architectures and patterns that scale and endure. - Customer-first mindset and a learner’s mindset; you value teaching others. - Strong communication skills—able to explain complex ideas clearly in writing and in person. - Experience with current stack is a plus (not required): **Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Metabase, Terraform, Python**. **Pay Transparency** - Estimated starting annual salary range: **$195,000 – $255,000 USD** - Total compensation may include **equity, benefits**, and (if applicable) incentives. - Equity upside is highly valued given Candid Health’s funding and size.
