About this role
**Latitude AI — Senior Engineering Manager, Scalable Machine Learning** Latitude AI (lat.ai) is building the future of Ford’s autonomy roadmap to make travel safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone. You’ll help scale Latitude’s fully in-house developed hands-free ADAS platform, debuting on the all-new Ford Fathom in 2027. In the **Intelligent Systems** team, Latitude converts photons into understanding—primarily via computer vision and machine learning—covering downstream tasks of the vehicle sensor suite and the full offboard/cloud infrastructure for ML. --- ## What you’ll do Scaling machine learning models with data and fast infrastructure is vital to achieve optimal performance and enable a safer, more sustainable future of transportation. As **Senior Engineering Manager**, you’ll: - Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, driving high technical standards and continuous skill development for scalable ML infrastructure. - Define and own the multi-quarter technical strategy for **data generation, orchestration, and distributed training**, including dependencies with other teams. - Represent the Scalable ML team in org-level planning and architecture decisions, resolving cross-team tradeoffs across shared infrastructure (e.g., **GPU scheduling/quota, job orchestration, storage, and compute cost**). - Drive advanced **MLOps** practices: model artifact management, experiment tracking, and automated model deployment/testing strategies. - Build durable technical partnerships with peer managers and architects across **ML Platform, Jobs Platform, Cloud Platform, and HPC**. - Hold the team and its systems to a high reliability bar, including cross-team incident root-cause, fixes, and prevention. --- ## What you’ll need to succeed - Bachelor’s + **10 years** experience, or Master’s + **8 years** experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related fields. - **10+ years** software development experience, with **5+ years** in Staff/Principal engineering or senior technical leadership. - Track record setting technical strategy across multiple teams/organizations. - Extensive experience designing/building/operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure for ML, including shared compute dependencies (GPU scheduling/quota, job orchestration, multi-tenant clusters). - Proven expertise in ML data pipelines (data generation, management, distributed training). - Strong proficiency in **Python** for high-performance, production-quality software. - Ability to influence and align peer teams and leaders without direct authority. - Successful delivery of complex, multi-org initiatives from conception to production with a focus on scalability, reliability, and alignment. --- ## Nice to have (optional) - Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field. - Hands-on experience with distributed ML frameworks/tools such as **Ray, PyTorch, Dagster, LakeFS, PyArrow**. - Experience with multi-sensor data fusion relevant to autonomous driving. - Familiarity with safety-critical software development principles in automotive/robotics. - Deep understanding of ML concepts, computer vision use cases, and challenges of **L2/L3 autonomy**. --- ## What we offer you - Competitive compensation packages - High-quality individual and family medical, dental, and vision insurance - Health savings account with employer match - Employer-matched 401(k)
