If you’re excited by innovative technology that solves complex, real-world problems, join a collaborative, fast-paced, and fun team. **The Role** We’re looking for a hands-on **Senior Software Engineer in Test** who brings a builder’s mindset to quality engineering. You’ll help shape the test automation strategy, mentor others, raise the bar for engineering quality, and partner with engineering and product to embed quality from the start. You’ll write code, build and extend test infrastructure, and influence how a team of **3–5 engineers** thinks about reliability and correctness at scale. **What You’ll Do** - **Shift Left on Quality:** Partner early with engineers and product managers to define testability requirements, acceptance criteria, and risk-based test strategies. - **Build and Maintain Test Automation:** Build/extend frameworks, tooling, and CI integration; take ownership of key areas and evolve them with the Principal SET. - **Test Across the Spectrum:** Create and run functional, integration, regression, and load/performance test automation. - Performance: **k6** or **Gatling** - Functional/API: **Cypress** / **Postman** - **Innovate on Process:** Identify and remove bottlenecks; champion adaptive QA practices that scale without slowing delivery. - **Elevate the Team:** Mentor QA engineers and contribute to a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. - **Drive Metrics That Matter:** Define and track quality signals (automation coverage, reliability, bug escape rates, feedback loop speed) and improve using data. - **Align with Business Goals:** Support compliance, security, and reliability standards while staying aligned with product and engineering objectives. **Required Experience & Skills** - **7+ years** in software testing or quality engineering, including **2+ years** as a technical lead or senior IC - Proficiency with: **Cypress, Node.js, Docker, Bitbucket Pipelines, Postman, WireMock, Kubernetes (K8s), AWS** - Experience with **load/performance testing** (k6, Gatling, or similar) - Strong understanding of **CI/CD**, cloud environments, and **shift-left** testing - Experience designing/scaling test infrastructure in agile, high-growth SaaS environments - Ability to communicate clearly across engineering, product, and senior leadership—translating quality risk into business impact - Ownership-driven, collaborative, and action-oriented **How We’ll Measure Your Impact** - **Automation reliability and coverage:** high pass rates, meaningful coverage, less reliance on manual regression - **Faster feedback loops:** test results that unblock engineers - **Quality influence:** bugs caught earlier, fewer escapes, teams proactively thinking about testability - **Team elevation:** QA engineers more capable and confident through mentorship **Additional Information** - **Equal Opportunity:** Akoya is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds. - **Remote-first:** This role is open to candidates within commuting distance of **Boston, MA; New York, NY; and Raleigh, NC**. - **Compensation & Benefits:** Expected base salary **$120,000–$140,000** (location and experience dependent).
