**Lead Embedded Software Engineer - Airborne Software** **About the Role** BETA Technologies is seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to revolutionize electric aviation. You'll apply deep knowledge of RTCA DO-178C, real-time safety-critical embedded software development, and technical leadership to lead a team developing robust airborne systems software. **Key Responsibilities** • Analyze system architecture and safety requirements to lead design, integration, test and analysis • Coordinate with systems engineering, safety, quality assurance, and airworthiness teams • Establish work assignments, feature sets, and deadlines for efficient project execution • Prepare project status reports and certification documentation • Contribute directly to embedded software development and testing (hands-on role) • Mentor junior engineers on DO-178C, real-time systems, and best practices • Manage a small engineering team with direct reports **Minimum Qualifications** • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field • 10+ years in real-time embedded software for safety-critical systems • Expert-level knowledge of DO-178C Level A compliance • Strong aerospace embedded software lifecycle experience • Excellent team communication and collaboration skills • Ability to lead up to 20 software engineers • Experience with FAA Stage of Involvement reviews and DER communication • Knowledge of RTCA DO-330 tool qualification and DO-331 model-based development **Preferred Qualifications** • Safety-critical embedded software best practices expertise • Experience with electric motor control, battery management, or flight control systems • Advanced techniques: model-based engineering, formal methods • Project management experience (Agile, Scrum, Kanban) **Compensation & Benefits** $165,000 – $185,000 USD Competitive total compensation package including RSUs, PSUs, onsite healthcare, comprehensive medical/dental/vision, disability coverage, paid parental leave, daily lunch, and flight lessons. *BETA is an equal opportunity employer.
