We're fully funded and committed to sustainable growth. **The Role** We're seeking a highly technical Head of Security Engineering to lead our security strategy with a red team-first approach. This is a hands-on leadership position balancing deep technical work with organizational impact. **Key Responsibilities** • Lead security engineering strategy with offensive security as the foundation • Operate with a red team/attacker mindset across applications, infrastructure, and internal systems • Direct red team capabilities including penetration testing, code review, and vulnerability discovery • Provide oversight across Security Operations and Application Security • Embed security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) • Strengthen vulnerability management, detection, and response processes • Build offensive security tooling and capabilities • Mentor and guide a strong technical team • Address emerging threats including AI security risks **Requirements** • 5+ years of security leadership experience • 10+ years of security engineering experience • Strong background in offensive security (red team, penetration testing, or bug bounty) • Deep understanding of modern attack vectors and defense strategies • Experience leading or working across Red team, Blue team/SecOps, or Application Security • Proven ability to set strategy, manage roadmaps, and deliver measurable outcomes • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on • Experience in fast-paced environments with frequent releases • Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders **Bonus Skills** AI/ML security, PHI/PII experience, high-regulatory environments, large-scale cloud/distributed systems, GRC partnership **What You Won't Do** ✗ Worry about runway or funding ✗ Stay confined to your job description ✗ Deal with office politics or negativity ✗ Burn out—we prioritize work/life balance **Benefits** • Remote work with 3 annual office visits + 1 company offsite (PST-based, all time zones welcome) • Competitive compensation: $250,000–$300,000 base + performance bonus • Free therapy and comprehensive wellness program • Excellent health, dental, and vision coverage • 401(k) with employer matching • Hardware/software for productivity • Collaborative, supportive team culture **Equal Opportunity Employer** BetterHelp (Teladoc Health) does not discriminate based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, sex, color, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or Veteran status.
