With 152M+ users and integrations across federal, state, and healthcare organizations, ID.me supports trusted identity experiences at scale. **Location** - Mountain View, CA (Onsite 5 days/week) **Role Overview** Join the **Developer Portal** team building a modern self-service platform that enables organizations to register applications, configure identity needs, test in a production-like sandbox, and launch to production. This is an **early-career (0–2 years)** role for engineers who write excellent code and work in an **AI-native** way—using AI coding tools daily while applying strong judgment to ensure correctness, security, performance, and maintainability. **What You’ll Do** - **Build and ship** developer features across the stack (backend APIs, database changes, and frontend experiences) - **Write high-quality, well-tested code** and participate actively in code reviews - **Build AI-first** using tools like Claude Code / Cursor (and hold AI-generated code to the same standards) - **Learn the identity stack** (authentication/authorization, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, enterprise SSO, multi-tenant access control, credential management) - **Operate what you ship** (monitoring, debugging, and on-call once ramped up) - **Collaborate and grow** with Product, Design, and engineers; write short technical designs and communicate tradeoffs clearly **Tech Stack (high level)** - Backend: **Java (Spring Boot)** + legacy **Ruby** services - Frontend: **Next.js**, **React**, **TypeScript** (micro-frontend platform) **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/CE (or equivalent experience) - **0–2 years** professional software engineering experience - Strong coding skills + CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, complexity, debugging) - Fluency in at least one modern language (e.g., **Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Go, Kotlin, C#, Ruby**) - Evidence you build real software (projects, internships, open source, hackathons, etc.) - **AI-native workflow**: daily hands-on use of AI coding tools + ability to critically evaluate and explain your code - Experience building with LLMs/agentic workflows (e.g., Claude/OpenAI APIs, MCP, agent frameworks) - Understanding of web apps: **HTTP, REST APIs, SQL/relational databases** - Ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly - Clear written and verbal communication **Preferred Qualifications** - Backend/full-stack internship experience - Java/Spring Boot (or similar frameworks) - React/TypeScript/Next.js - PostgreSQL (or similar) + schema design - AuthN/AuthZ exposure (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWTs, SSO, access control) - Experience building developer tools/APIs/SDKs/docs - Automated testing experience (unit/integration/e2e) - Cloud/container/CI/CD familiarity (GCP/AWS/Azure, Docker, etc.) - Interest in security, identity, fraud prevention, or regulated systems **Success Looks Like** - **First 30 days:** setup complete, first production change shipped, understand how the Developer Portal fits into ID.me’s identity platform - **First 90 days:** independently deliver well-scoped features across backend + frontend; meaningful code review contributions; improved speed/quality with AI tooling - **First year:** own a meaningful Devel
