**Software Engineer, Agent Harness** **About Cartesia** We're pioneering AI that learns from and interacts with the world like humans do. Founded by Stanford AI Lab PhDs who invented State Space Models (SSMs), we're building fast, state-of-the-art voice models and the platform to deploy them in production. **About the Role** You'll build the platform behind Managed Agents—our voice agents product. Own the stack end-to-end and directly shape the latency, reliability, and developer experience of every agent built on Cartesia. **Your Impact** • Evolve the realtime transport layer for audio between users and agents (web, SDKs, telephony) • Trace and cut end-to-end conversational latency across STT, LLM, and TTS pipelines • Make agent deployments fast and resilient with faster cold starts and smarter scaling • Define voice agent quality measurement with eval suites and regression tracking **What You Bring** • Experience building and operating distributed backend systems in production • Strong product instincts around latency, reliability, and developer experience • Fluent use of coding agents and staying current with AI frontiers • Clear communication and strong presence in design reviews **Nice-to-Haves** • Real-time media systems (WebRTC, SIP, RTP, low-latency audio) • Voice agents or frameworks (Pipecat, LiveKit, OpenAI Agents SDK, Claude SDK) • Developer-facing platforms or infrastructure • Distributed systems at scale **Details** 🏢 In-person: San Francisco, London, or Bangalore 🌎 Visa sponsorship available (case-by-case) 💰 Competitive salary + equity 🩺 Full health coverage (medical, dental, vision) 🧑🧑🧒🧒 9 weeks paternity / 12 weeks maternity leave 🏖️ Flexible PTO 🍲 Daily meals & snacks *Cartesia is an equal opportunity employer.*
