Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. **About the team** The Builder Experience Team makes it easier for Stripe’s product teams to build the right products, ship with confidence, and help users realize value. We’re a small, AI-native team reimagining how Stripe builds, ships, and ramps products—experimenting with AI agents, automation, and scalable processes. **What you’ll do** We’re looking for product-minded engineers who want to rethink how products get built—not just digitize existing processes. You’ll identify high-friction parts of Stripe’s product-development lifecycle, rapidly prototype new approaches, test them with real teams, and scale the strongest experiments across Stripe. In this hands-on role, you’ll work across the stack, combining traditional software engineering with emerging AI capabilities in ambiguous problem spaces where product, interface, and technical architecture must be discovered together. You will: - Design and build tools that help Stripe teams shape better products, ship faster, and learn from users more quickly. - Develop AI-native workflows and agents that synthesize context, automate repetitive work, surface risks, and support better decisions. - Own projects end to end: identify high-value problems, develop prototypes, test with users, measure impact, and scale what works. - Work across backend systems, data sources, internal platforms, and polished user-facing experiences. - Partner directly with product managers, engineers, designers, researchers, and cross-functional teams. - Integrate with platforms such as Kai and Compass, while identifying where new foundational capabilities are needed. - Apply strong judgment when using sensitive internal context, with attention to security, privacy, permissions, and user trust. - Help define how the team operates, including technical foundations, product-development practices, and experimentation/quality standards. - Contribute to the roadmap by identifying systemic sources of friction and opportunities to improve Stripe’s product-development lifecycle. **Who you are** If you meet the minimum requirements, you’re encouraged to apply. Preferred qualifications are a bonus. **Minimum requirements** - 5+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience - Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of new product experiences from prototype to production - Strong full-stack engineering skills (reliable backend services + polished user-facing experiences) - Ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments (frame problems, experiment, adjust, make right-sized decisions, and create an actionable path forward) - Excellent cross-functional/cross-organizational collaboration skills - Strong engineering judgment around reliability, operational excellence, security, and maintainability - Product-minded approach focused on meaningful outcomes for users and the business **Preferred qualifications** - Experience with Java, Ruby, and/or TypeScript (we value strong fundamentals and learning ability) - Experience delivering user-facing products at Stripe (Payments, MM, RevSuite, etc.) or prior to Stripe - Experience with 0
