**Manager, Applied AI Engineering (Megas) — Anthropic** ## About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems—safe and beneficial for users and society. As a **Manager of Applied AI Engineers** for Anthropic’s **Megas** segment, you’ll lead a team of deeply technical engineers embedded with Anthropic’s largest and most strategic accounts. These partner-customers consume Claude to transform their business and distribute Claude through their platforms and marketplaces. ## What you’ll do - **Build, coach, and grow** a team of Applied AI Engineers serving Mega accounts (hire, develop, and scale onboarding for a customer-facing technical role). - **Staff account-aligned pods** alongside Applied AI Architects, balancing continuity with flexibility across the segment. - Set **performance goals** tied to each Mega’s technical account plan and segment consumption objectives; define **metrics, reporting cadence, and dashboards**. - Serve as a **senior technical advisor** to Mega product and engineering leaders for production Claude workloads (architecture, evaluation strategy, advanced prompting, agentic and implementation patterns). - Lead **hands-on co-build initiatives** from prototypes/pilots through **production deployments**. - Navigate the **partner-customer duality** (direct consumption + distribution through Mega platforms/marketplaces) with sound judgment on what to build/share. - Act as a **technical escalation point** and partner with pod leads and Mega Sales to sequence technical work for maximum customer value. - Build shared assets across pods (e.g., **reference architectures, agentic patterns, eval frameworks**) so learnings compound across accounts. - Collaborate with **Product and Research** to surface Mega-driven requirements with appropriate context and impact. - Champion scalable public/internal assets (LLM prompting, evaluation, agentic, architecture techniques) and contribute thought leadership (talks, blog posts, white papers). - Maintain strong, current knowledge of LLM capabilities and translate it into practical guidance. - **Travel** for workshops, executive technical sessions, implementation support, and conferences. ## Responsibilities (high level) - People leadership + scaling customer-facing technical teams - Technical advisory and hands-on co-building - Evaluation/architecture leadership for production LLM deployments - Cross-functional partnership (Sales, Partnerships, Product, Research) ## You may be a good fit if you have - **6+ years** in technical roles (e.g., Forward Deployed Engineer, Software Engineer, Solutions/Sales Engineer, Technical Product Manager). - **4+ years** in formal leadership (ideally manager of managers / multiple teams). Technical founders encouraged. - Proven success **hiring, coaching, and scaling** customer-facing technical teams (fast-moving/hypergrowth preferred). - Experience supporting **large named strategic accounts** at platform/infrastructure/model companies (ideally both customer + partner). - **Production LLM experience** (advanced prompt engineering, agent development/frameworks, evaluation frameworks, transcript analysis, MCP, and scaled deployment). - Strong programming skills in **Python or TypeScript**; experience building production applications. - Track record influencing **technical architecture** and partner product roadmaps with senior stakeholders (CTOs/CPOs/engineering leaders). - Experience running **mixed pre-s
