Everything we do is engineered for ambition. **About the Role** Adyen’s Financial Products organization is building foundational infrastructure that enables customers to manage finances, issue cards, and access credits and financing globally. We’re creating a Machine Learning Engineering team in **San Francisco** focused on **Credit Risk Modeling for Underwriting**. You’ll lead the team that designs, productionizes, and operates **machine learning models** and **rule-based decision systems** powering credit products—covering the full lifecycle from research and data analysis through training, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. --- ## What You’ll Do - Lead the **Credit Risk Modeling** team with hands-on technical leadership, shaping architecture strategy and raising the bar through mentoring and technical guidance. - Collaborate cross-functionally with **Design, Product, Data Engineers, Product Engineers, Credit Ops**, and other stakeholders. - Multiply team impact by coaching on engineering best practices, scalable architecture, and roadmap discussions. - Maintain an inclusive culture focused on **autonomy, ownership, collaboration, communication, and impact**. - Partner with other teams to design and implement new **pipelines/services** with reliability/infra/data/dev in mind. - Set clear individual and team goals aligned with strategic engineering ambitions (in close collaboration with the product manager). - Recruit and grow talent aligned with Adyen’s culture and required skills. --- ## Who You Are - Proven experience working with and deeply understanding **machine learning products**. - An energetic self-starter who can create alignment across multiple teams. - Able to define, implement, and monitor performance to identify improvement opportunities in existing systems. - Experienced in coaching and mentoring engineering talent. - Experience leading technical projects in a fast-paced, critical environment. - Experience collaborating with senior leadership to set strategic direction (including product roadmaps). - Excellent communicator who can explain technical concepts to non-engineers. --- ## Minimum Qualifications - **2+ years** managing machine learning engineering teams in a mission-critical environment. - **7+ years** experience in an ML/AI tech environment. - Experience with **Credit Underwriting**. --- ## Location & Work Model - **San Francisco office (office-first)** — in-person collaboration is required; **no remote-only roles**. - While this is SF-based, Adyen may consider future relocation conversations to **Amsterdam or Madrid**. --- ## Compensation (Base) - Annual base salary range: **$212,000 – $293,000** plus **RSUs**. --- ## What’s Next - Adyen aims to respond within **5 business days**. - Interview process typically takes about **4 weeks** (may vary by role). - Learn more about the hiring process: https://careers.adyen.com/how-we-hire --- *Adyen is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on legally protected characteristics.*
