**Senior Software Engineer, Vehicle Interaction** **About the Role** Join Waymo's Vehicle Interaction team, which tackles critical autonomous driving challenges by modeling agent interactions with other vehicles. You'll design and deploy learned interaction policies, collaborate across prediction and planning teams, and integrate ML models into production systems. **What You'll Do** • Design, evaluate, and deploy learned interaction policies for complex navigation and yielding scenarios • Collaborate cross-functionally at the intersection of prediction and planning • Integrate learned models into closed-loop simulation environments and benchmark against safety metrics • Drive transitions from rule-based heuristics to scalable, data-driven policies **What You Have** • BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related technical field (or equivalent experience) • 5+ years of software engineering experience with high-performance C++ • Hands-on ML experience: learned driving policies (RL/imitation learning), PyTorch or JAX, closed-loop simulation, and production model deployment • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills **We Prefer** • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related field • Software engineering expertise in motion planning or autonomous systems • Experience building and benchmarking ML systems at scale • Technical leadership experience **Compensation** Salary Range: $213,000–$263,000 USD Plus: Discretionary annual bonus, equity incentive plan, and comprehensive benefits
