About this role

## Senior Software Engineer, Graph Analytics ### About TRM TRM Labs provides AI-powered intelligence solutions that help public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime. TRM’s platforms enable investigators to trace illicit activity, build cases, and construct operating pictures of threat networks. ### Role Overview As a **Senior Software Engineer** on the **Graph Analytics** team, you will build **scalable graph systems** that analyze large networks of **cryptocurrency transactions**. You’ll collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and investigators to design **mission-critical graph algorithms** for analyzing flows of funds—leveraging **distributed databases** and **graph processors** to run **real-time graph algorithms** at **multi-blockchain scale**. ### What You’ll Do - Design and implement graph algorithms for **multi-blockchain cryptocurrency transaction networks** - Research and evaluate **graph-native technologies** to support data science and data engineering teams - Work cross-functionally with cryptocurrency investigators to define **user stories** and requirements for new graph algorithms and features - Understand and refine TRM’s **risk models** that assign risk scores to addresses based on large transaction networks - Communicate complex implementation details to both technical and non-technical audiences - Integrate diverse data inputs, from **raw blockchain data** to **model outputs** ### Impact (Examples) - Delivered a framework to enable **running balance** functionality for assets tied to an address across chains (e.g., BTC), including implementation and testing within a **two-week** window - Built a time-sensitive feature to gather **user community feedback** quickly for an upcoming event, delivering ~**80%** of needs on an aggressive timeline - Developed a solution to reveal **Indirect Exposure** through **cross-chain swaps**, aligning tradeoffs and delivery with stakeholder timelines ### What We’re Looking For - Academic background in a quantitative field (e.g., **Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics**) - Strong knowledge of **algorithm design** and **data structures** with experience applying them to real-world problems - Experience optimizing large-scale distributed processing systems such as **Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, Dask**, and/or distributed graph databases - Experience translating academic research into production products; worked with research teams that ship new features - Strong programming experience with **Python** and **SQL** - Excellent communication skills; able to tailor explanations for technical and non-technical audiences - Self-motivated; proposes and validates solutions with minimal guidance - Comfortable working with ambiguity and shaping research direction while owning outcomes - Knowledge of basic **graph theory** concepts ### About the Team The team is distributed across multiple countries and time zones, with a culture built on **trust, transparency, and adaptability**. Collaboration is supported through open communication, regular check-ins, and digital tools. ### Compensation (US Base Salary) - Estimated base salary range: **$200,000 – $220,000** - May be eligible to participate in **TRM’s equity plan** - Compensation varies by geography (costs outside the US are factored) ### Interview Process (High Level) - Recruiter intro - Hiring manager - First round (typically **1–2 interviews**) - Final round (panel-style) - References - Offer ###
