Fivetran and dbt Labs are coming together to help organizations unlock the full value of their data by delivering the infrastructure layer that supports moving, transforming, and trusting data—from ingestion through transformation and into the context teams and AI systems rely on. ## About the Team Cloud Onboarding Architects work within Professional Services alongside Customer Onboarding Managers, Technical Instructors, and Resident Solutions Architects. The team ensures every new managed enterprise customer has a fully configured dbt platform account and feels confident using it. Guided Setup is often a customer’s first hands-on experience with dbt. The role sits at the intersection of technical implementation, customer experience, and product feedback—helping customers navigate complexity across data, identity, security, and development environments while setting them up for long-term success. ## About the Role The **Cloud Onboarding Architect Lead** is the technical leader for Guided Setup across the dbt enterprise customer base. You’ll own the most complex and highest-visibility setup engagements and help define how the team delivers setup at scale. This role blends hands-on technical delivery with technical leadership. You’ll be the go-to expert when customers have unusual architectures, implementations stall, or the standard playbook doesn’t fit. You’ll also partner across Professional Services, Engineering, Product, and Design to turn challenges into better processes, documentation, and product experiences. ## Technologies You’ll Use - **Modern Data Warehouses:** Snowflake / Databricks / BigQuery / Redshift - **Repositories:** GitHub / GitLab / Azure DevOps - **Identity Providers:** Okta / Entra ID / Google - **Secure Connectivity:** PrivateLink / Private Service Connect - **Clouds & Platforms:** AWS, Azure, GCP - **Core Concepts:** SQL, SSO, OAuth - **Tools:** Rocketlane ## What You’ll Do - **Own complex and escalated setup engagements** - Lead Guided Setup for the most technically complex, strategically important, and highest-visibility enterprise accounts across all milestones: data warehouse/repository configuration, SSO, RBAC/SCIM, and user access - Serve as the senior technical escalation point when setup issues threaten onboarding timelines (including PrivateLink, OAuth, SSO, networking, and identity scenarios) - Partner with customer technical stakeholders/admins to understand environments, identify risks, and guide successful configurations - Anticipate blockers early and create clear resolution plans - Scope what belongs in Guided Setup vs. Customer Solutions Engineering, Product, or post-onboarding work - Maintain the same high bar for customer experience, documentation, and technical quality as standard setups - **Raise the bar for the team** - Mentor and coach Cloud Onboarding Architect I/IIIs on troubleshooting, platform expertise, and customer-facing skills - Act as a thought partner for ambiguous or technically challenging customer situations - Continuously improve the Guided Setup checklist, playbooks, kickoff materials, troubleshooting guidance, and internal documentation - Identify patterns across engagements and tu
